1. Orthopaedic decisions are often made on the basis of
opinion rather than scientific calculations. This can lead
to unnecessary surgery or suboptimal treatment. Finite
element analysis has the theoretical ability to make these
calculations but lack of verification, validation & automation
in existing systems have prevented its orthopaedic clinical
use. PerSimiO, an Israeli startup based on 15 years of
academic research, has developed a validated finite element
analysis simulation system for evaluating bone strength. The
system allows for accurate assessment of the strength of a
patient's bone which is affected by pathology and patient
specific medical care.

Overview
• Full automation : target is processing time ≤ 20 min
• FDA 510k approval in the U.S
• Increase the number of PerSimiO applications
CT scan of the affected bone ordered by treating physician sent digitally to PerSimiO processing

summary sent to doctors' computer. Loop time goal <20 minutes
Simfini-Osteo- Accurate assessment of bone strength in patients who are at high risk for fracture or
who are being treated with aromatase inhibitor therapy for breast cancer or androgen deprivation
therapy for non metastatic prostate cancer.
Simfini-Tumor- Assessment of the strength of bone affected by a primary or metastatic tumor to
determine whether orthopaedic instrumentation is a necessity.
Simfini-Implant- Determination of which of the variety of hip replacement prosthesis available on
market is the most suitable given the strength properties of a patient's femur. This is important given
the increasing lifespan of patients.
IP Protection - Provisional patent U.S. in 2016 (Validation based on more than 36 fresh frozen bones.)
Prof. Z. Yosibash - expert in bone biomechanics and advanced finite element analysis; Prof C.
Milgrom - an orthopaedic surgeon; Dr N. Trabelsi – a specialist in bone simulations; Kent Myers - an
American specialist in finite element software development; E. Segall - business development; a team
