Priorities for Learning Recovery during the 2021-2022
School Year
1. Maximize in-person learning through COVID
Testing, Test to Stay, Management and Mitigation.
2. Implementation of Academic and Social
Emotional Learning Supports and Interventions.
3. Reconnect to school life and school culture.

Maximizing In-Person Learning

Academic Supports and Interventions
Instructional Leadership Multiplier = Increase in Student Achievement
● Regular Meetings with Building Leaders focused on academics and SEL
○ All administrators meet monthly as a large group
○ Principals meet monthly in MS strands with Dr. Connolly, Dr. Childress
and Kim Cline
○ Assistant Principals meet monthly by level with Dr. Childress and Kim
Cline
● Elementary Content Area Coaches and MS Equity Teachers and Coaches-
meet regularly with E & L Directors collaborating on building systems and
structures that increase teachers capacity and student growth. They assist
with developing and providing pd focus and supports for grade level teams.

Academic Supports and Interventions
Instructional Leadership Multiplier = Increase in Student Achievement
● MTSS School Teams- All schools now have MTSS teams to review
school, grade level and individual student data. These teams meet
regularly to support teachers and develop instructional plans with
SMART goals for students.
● Language Services Facilitators meet monthly with Ania Figueroa,
Director of Language Services, this allows for two way
communication and feedback regarding initiatives.

Academic Supports and Interventions
Implementation of tools to analyze metrics and monitor student growth
● MAP- 3x per year, used to measure student growth and
achievement, also being used as a universal screening tool to
identify Tier 1, 2, 3 students for MTSS purposes
● Performance Matters- Adopted last year, expanded this year to
include D21 common assessments
● Branching Minds- Adopted this year, provides a variety of
dashboards and allows MTSS teams to create small group and
individual growth plans for students
*MAP and Performance Matters provide instant access to data that
teachers can use to adjust instruction for students

Academic Supports and Interventions
Elementary Interventionists and MS Equity Coaches
● Provide pull-out and push-in support in reading and math to over 600
students
● On average identified students are receiving 2.5 hours of individualized
and or small group instruction
● 401 students currently have active progress monitoring plans entered
into Branching Minds - a number we expect to grow as staff become
more familiar with the software and our MTSS Framework
Before and After School Tutoring/ Homework Help
● Currently 416 students are receiving an additional 1-3 hours of
small group support per week outside of the school day.

Academic Supports and Interventions
Gifted, Talented, and Accelerated Task Force
● 25 stakeholders - administrators, teachers, parents, and a
board member
● Task Force Meetings scheduled for the following dates:
○ December 8th, January 11th, February 1st, February
15th, March 1st, April 12th
● Program recommendations - BOE meeting in March
● Summer Work Meetings June 7th & 8th

Social Emotional Supports and Interventions
● School resilience teams creating classroom calming corners and
purchasing tools (fidgets, coloring pages, etc.) for all students to access
● Every school has dedicated classroom time, every day, to check in with
students and address social emotional needs
● Restorative Practice Coach supporting middle school ISS, training
staff/students in proactive sharing circles, daily collaboration with deans
● Continued use of Panorama Education surveys to measure student
agency, mindset towards school, and social emotional learning
● Survey administration built into the assessment calendar
● PD provided administration team

Family and Community Supports
● Family Liaisons
● On staff interpreters
● Family Academy Series
● Expansion of transportation capacity with 3 newly acquired
district owned and operated small buses.
● Ongoing work with community partners to provide additional
resources and supports.

Reconnecting to School Life
● Increased funding for expanded extra
curricular activities at the elementary level.
● Late day transportation for students engaged
in after school programming.
● Resumption of school based activities
(Concerts, Plays, Athletics, etc.)
