Abstrak
Studi menggunakan data ground-penetrating radar (GPR) dari pengukuran cara common-
offset profiling telah dilakukan pada singkapan batubara di tambang Air Laya, Bukit Asam,
Tanjung Enim, Sumatera Selatan. Pengukuran dilaksanakan dengan sistim GPR RAMAC
dengan antena 100 MHz. Tujuan studi ini adalah mengenal dan mengeliminir noise akibat
hamburan dari obyek di permukaan bumi dan efek-efek ring-down dan mencitrakan struktur
perlapisan batubara. Data yang belum diproses dianalisa dengan bantuan analisa waktu-
frekuensi bersamaan (analisa Joint Time Frequency (JTF)). Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa
beberapa pola pantulan yang muncul pada radargram adalah merupakan multiple reflection
dari lapisan batubara. Efek ring-down yang dihasilkan dari ketidakcocokan impedansi
antara sifat-sifat kelistrikan dari singkapan batubara dan sifat-sifat kelistrikan antena juga
dapat terlihat dan dapat dikenali secara baik dan dapat dianalisa dalam representasi JTF.
Analisa JTF terbukti merupakan alat yang berguna dalam membedakan antara sinyal dan
noise untuk pengukuran GPR pada lapisan batubara.

Abstract
Study on Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) data from a common-offset profiling measurement
carried out in the coal outcrop in Air Laya coal mining at Bukit Asam, Tanjung Enim, south
sumatera was done. GPR RAMAC system with 100 MHz antenna was utilized. The aim of the
study are to recognize, eliminate surface-scattering noise, ring-down effects and to identify
coal outcrop. The unprocessed data were analyzed with the help of joint time frequency
(JTFA) analysis. Study result shows that some reflections patterns appeared in radargram
are resulting from coal layers. Ring-down effect resulted from impedance mismatch between
subsurface electrical properties with those of can be well recognized and analyzed in the JTF
representation. JTF analysis are proved to be useful tools in imaging coal outcrop and host
rocks.
