1. Letter of Recommendation for Duane Daley:
Duane Daley has worked tirelessly hand in hand with Completion consultants,
superintendents, and vendors to build Halcon’s safety program here in the Bakken. It is very rare
to get to work with safety individuals who understand completion operations, work with vendors,
and are willing to be called anytime day or night, even for a simple question, by consultants on
Halcon’s safety procedures. This is Duane.
A lot of Halcon’s wells exist on the Ft. Berthold Indian Reservation in North Dakota. As
a result of this, Halcon tries to use Tribal Vendors in any area possible. These vendors were new
startup companies with very few having safety programs or understanding Halcon’s safety
requirements. Duane worked very hard with these vendors to meet our safety standards. I
personally can’t say enough about where these companies are today in safety compared to when
I started with Halcon. I also can’t say enough about where Halcon is today in safety compared to
when I started. An amazing turn around and Duane is who I credit with this achievement.
Duane has earned the respect of all my consultants, and from both I and the other
Completion Superintendent. He never jeopardized safety, but understood completion operations
and the smaller oil company budget that we have. He is a very well rounded team player and I
have never heard one of my consultants complain about him being on their location, his
inspections, or suggestions. In fact just the opposite. They encouraged Duane to come on to their
locations. This is a rarity from a Completions operational stand point, but as stated earlier, he
has their respect and they knew that he was there to work with them as a team to make the job
site safer. He is by far the best safety consultant I have ever had the privilege of working with.
