What watch does Rafeal Nadal wear
1. What Watch Does Rafael Nadal Wear
Rafael Nadal Parera or the King of Clay is a Spanish professional tennis player with sixty six
titles, twenty six of them in Master Series, and fourteen in Grand Slam. Rafael has won the
Australian Open in 2009, US Open in 2010 and 2013, Wimbledon in 2008 and 2010, Davis Cup
in 2004 and Rolan Garros nine times.
Nadal was not just recognized as the 22nd highest paid athletes in 2015 and ranked as the 5th
richest player among tennis players but also titled as the holder of the most expensive watch in
the tennis matches.
Rafael’s watches now are part of his games, he has not been seen in the court without his watch
since 2010 when he has been seen playing tennis professionally while wearing a watch.
It is used to see the famous tennis players endorse selling watches, however no one of them has
wrapped the watch around his wrist in the court, because of the forces which is applied on the
watch during the game that often affect the accuracy of it and the impact of the watch weigh on
the movement of tennis player’s hand.
However Nadal and Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille have worked together since 2010 to
innovate and develop a luxury amazing watch that is suitable for Nadal during his matches. This
partnership lead to the one of the most successful relationship between sponsor and athlete, the
relation between Richard and Rafeal was more than business relation as Rafeal said that they had
amazing relationship and they talk a lot to develop the watch even Rafeal and his team have
spent the weekend in Richard’s house talking and discussing the feature and design.
RM027 was seen in Nadal’s wrist in 2010 with a weigh
of 20 grams, made of complex carbon composites and
titanium.
It was designed that its movement offset the gravity’s
effect and to withstand the forces of him hitting his
ferocious backhand without affecting the watches
accuracy
Richard Mille has made just 50 pieces of RM027 with
retail price 525 000 USD and all of them were sold out.
2. In 2013the second result of corporation and
sponsorship between Rafeal and Mille were
announced RM027-01 the watch that Nadal
said that he cannot imaging playing without
it and went further to say that when he does
not wear the watch, he feels like something
is not working.
RM027-01 was a new design that can
withstands force accelerations up to 5000G
with a weigh only19 grams.
A series of tiny cables, tensioners that
suspend the movement in the watch casing
were used in the new watch.
"Between the first watch and the second
watch, there's more technology," Carlos Costa said, Nadal’s manager.
50 pieces of RM027-01 were produced and sold out at 690 000 USD retail price and Mille
pointed out that the interest about the watch has been very strong from its clients.
At the French Open in 2015 Rafeal entered the court with new amazing watch wrapped around
his wrist. It was RM027-02 the third watch that was made from a space-age quartz material, built
to withstand 5,000 Gs of g-force and had a microscopic cable made from Carbon nanotubes,
Lithium, Titanium with sapphire glass, the watch was incredibly light 19 gram and contained
grade 5 titanium and a sapphire crystal. The case of RM27-02 was harder and lighter than the last
two ones.
3. RM27-02 was the most expensive watch that has been hold by Nadal and retailed for 775000$.
This price was not because of adding gold or diamonds to the watch but because it was
expressing the borders on engineering insanity where a new technique in construction and new
materials were used. The first ‘skeletonized baseplate has been created by Mille instead of
making the case band that has two pieces. Mille was inspired by the chassis of race cars and
fuses the two components together.
TPT Quartz was the new material that has been used in the new watch. Using this material was a
result of Mille’s engineers working with North Thin Ply Technology the company that makes
composites for space exploration and Formula 1 racing. The new material is composed of hundreds
of layers of quartz piled on top of each other and fused together with silica heated to 250 degrees.
Mille did not concentrate just
on the engineering
specification of the watch but
also gave attention to the
design and visual art of it, with
its bright red winder and black
and silver skeletal inside it was
gorgeous.
At the launch of MR27-02
Mille said that "The movement
you see here is a pure marvel; it's
a step forward in terms of
watchmaking expertise, even
though it has a lot of shock
resistance. We gave a lot of attention to the beauty of the finish because we are top watchmakers, and for
us, it is very important to do this."
When Rafeal was asked about
the watch and what does he
think about the price if he
consider it an expensive price,
he said that the watch was
sexier than last two ones and
he was happy the new design.
And about the price the price
he answered, yes it is
expensive but you can
consider it as an investment,
that will go to a higher price
after a period of times because
