Professional Research experiences at CW&PRS as SSCCIIEENNTTIISSTT BB
Water Quality Assessment, Mathematical model studies for predicting water quality,
Oilspill, Morphological changes and Sediment deposition and erosion in Coastal, Oceans as
well as fresh water ecosystems for Port development. My research work includes:
 Being carried out the littoral drift and shoreline changes studies for the proposed
Outer Harbour at Cochin coastal area for Cochin Port Trust, Kerala, India. It includes
digitization of cross shore profiles, wave climates, shoreline digitations, running the
LITPACK Model such as litdrift submodule and litline sub modules. The sediment
transport region and the shoreline changes after 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, 15 years would
be computed and the report would be given to project Cochin Port Trust, Cochin
 Being carried out the littoral drift and shoreline changes studies for the proposed
power plant at Kovvada coastal area for NPCIL, Mumbai, India. It includes digtisation
of cross shore profiles, wave climates, shoreline digitations, running the litdrift
submodule and litline sub modules. The sediment transport region and the shoreline
changes after 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 years would be computed and the report would be
given to project authorities.
 Being carried out in the investigation of temperature dispersion modeling of Kovvada
coastal area (horizontal and vertical dispersion) for NPCIL, Mumbai. It includes
digitization of bathymetry, model setup, Calibration of model and prediction of model
with hydrodynamics and advection and dispersion in the model area with desired
parameters such as wind speed, direction, dispersion coefficient, boundary
conditions in MIKE21 2 dimensional flow modelling nd advection and dispersion
models. This project is one of the national importance as well as another world
largest power plant proposed at Kovvada, Andhra Pradesh state, India
 Carried out in the investigation of temperature dispersion modeling for NPCIL at
Jaitapur, Maharastra. It includes digitization of bathymetry, model setup, Calibration
of model and prediction of model with hydrodynamics and advection and dispersion
in the model area with desired parameters such as wind speed, direction, dispersion
coefficient, boundary conditions in MIKE21.
 Carried out in the investigation of Salinity and solid dispersion modeling of North
Chennai coastal area for Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, Chennai. It
includes digitization of bathymetry, model setup, Calibration of model and prediction
of model with hydrodynamics and advection and dispersion in the model area with
desired parameters such as wind speed, direction, dispersion coefficient, boundary
conditions in MIKE21 and CORMIX models.
 Completed a project on mathematical model studies to investigate hydrodynamics
and wave for optimize layout of harbour at REDI, Sindudurg District, Maharastra.
 Completed a project on investigation of temperature modeling of Kalpakkam coastal
area for Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Power (DAE), Kalpakkam. It includes
digitization of bathymetry, model setup, Calibration of model and prediction of model
with hydrodynamics and advection and dispersion in the model area with desired
parameters such as wind speed, direction, dispersion coefficient, boundary
conditions using MIKE21 model.
 Completed a project on mathematical model studies to investigate hydrodynamics
and water quality in the Tehri Reservoir, Resikesh. It is a national important project
using MIKE3 model.
 Completed a project on mathematical model studies to predicting the morphological
changes due to the development of port facilities at Cochin Port, Pipav Port
(Hydrodynamic), and Mangalore Port (accidental Oilspill) using software (Cormix,
MIKE21, TELEMAX and Sedim) on Silicon Graphics Workstation based as well as
PC based for simulation of thermal discharges, flow field, oil advection and
dispersion, sediment deposition and erosion, water quality modeling for Tehri
reservoir, Panshet and reservoir, Chilika lake, in fresh water environment.
 Completed a project on Physico – chemical, biological (Plankton) and
microbiological (E.coli) analysis of water and wastewater for the purpose of finding
out water quality and pollution status of coastal and freshwater (lakes rivers and
reservoirs) ecosystems.
 Completed a project on Chemical analyses of construction materials like fly ash
cement and mortar. Analysis of soil, sediment and walnut shell powder for grain size
distribution (D50 Value) for the purpose of studying sediment deposition and erosion
in river and coastal areas.
 Handling and maintenance of analytical instruments such as pH meter, Conductivity
meter, Flame-photometer, Absorptiometer, Spectrophotometer, Atomic Absorption
Spectrophotometer, Laminar Air Flow, Colony Counter, Global Positioning System,
Dissolved Oxygen Meter, Water Quality Monitor, Water Samplers, Mercury Analyser.
 Attended Training Of Trainers (TOT) hands on training for pollution related
parameters conducted by Groundwater Survey and Development Agency, Pune,
India held at Aurangabad, India on 22.05.2000 to 26.05.2000 under world Bank
aided Hydrology Project.
 Completed a project on in the preparation of comments and suggestions for
improving Environmental Impact Assessment reports of Kameng hydroelectric power
project.
 Completed a project on in the preparation of comments and suggestions for
improving Environmental Impact Assessment reports of Myntdu hydroelectric power
project.
 Completed a project on in the preparation of comments and suggestions for
improving Environmental Impact Assessment reports of Upper Krishna hydroelectric
power projects.
 Completed a project on World Bank aided Hydrology Project “Field investigation and
development of mathematical model studies for predicting water quality in reservoir
systems: Panshet and Ujjani dams” involving in the analysis of Physico-chemical,
biological (Plankton:- Phyto and Zoo)and microbiological (MPN and Standard Plate
Count) quality of water and soil in Panshet and Ujjani reservoir ecosystems.
 Completed a project on Development of a model for flow field and water quality
parameters for Panshet and Ujjani reservoirs.
 Attended Training programme on “Effective Environmental Management in River
Valley Projects” conducted by National Water Academy, Ministry of Water
Resources, Govt. of India. Pune.

My research work includes:  Being carried out the littoral drift and shoreline changes studies for the proposed Outer Harbour at Cochin coastal area for Cochin Port Trust, Kerala, India. It includes digitization of cross shore profiles, wave climates, shoreline digitations, running the LITPACK Model such as litdrift submodule and litline sub modules. The sediment transport region and the shoreline changes after 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10, 15 years would be computed and the report would be given to project Cochin Port Trust, Cochin  Being carried out the littoral drift and shoreline changes studies for the proposed power plant at Kovvada coastal area for NPCIL, Mumbai, India. It includes digtisation of cross shore profiles, wave climates, shoreline digitations, running the litdrift submodule and litline sub modules. The sediment transport region and the shoreline changes after 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 years would be computed and the report would be given to project authorities.  Being carried out in the investigation of temperature dispersion modeling of Kovvada coastal area (horizontal and vertical dispersion) for NPCIL, Mumbai. It includes digitization of bathymetry, model setup, Calibration of model and prediction of model with hydrodynamics and advection and dispersion in the model area with desired parameters such as wind speed, direction, dispersion coefficient, boundary conditions in MIKE21 2 dimensional flow modelling nd advection and dispersion models. This project is one of the national importance as well as another world largest power plant proposed at Kovvada, Andhra Pradesh state, India  Carried out in the investigation of temperature dispersion modeling for NPCIL at Jaitapur, Maharastra. It includes digitization of bathymetry, model setup, Calibration of model and prediction of model with hydrodynamics and advection and dispersion in the model area with desired parameters such as wind speed, direction, dispersion coefficient, boundary conditions in MIKE21.  Carried out in the investigation of Salinity and solid dispersion modeling of North Chennai coastal area for Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited, Chennai. It includes digitization of bathymetry, model setup, Calibration of model and prediction of model with hydrodynamics and advection and dispersion in the model area with desired parameters such as wind speed, direction, dispersion coefficient, boundary conditions in MIKE21 and CORMIX models.  Completed a project on mathematical model studies to investigate hydrodynamics and wave for optimize layout of harbour at REDI, Sindudurg District, Maharastra.  Completed a project on investigation of temperature modeling of Kalpakkam coastal area for Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Power (DAE), Kalpakkam. It includes digitization of bathymetry, model setup, Calibration of model and prediction of model with hydrodynamics and advection and dispersion in the model area with desired
  • 2. parameters such as wind speed, direction, dispersion coefficient, boundary conditions using MIKE21 model.  Completed a project on mathematical model studies to investigate hydrodynamics and water quality in the Tehri Reservoir, Resikesh. It is a national important project using MIKE3 model.  Completed a project on mathematical model studies to predicting the morphological changes due to the development of port facilities at Cochin Port, Pipav Port (Hydrodynamic), and Mangalore Port (accidental Oilspill) using software (Cormix, MIKE21, TELEMAX and Sedim) on Silicon Graphics Workstation based as well as PC based for simulation of thermal discharges, flow field, oil advection and dispersion, sediment deposition and erosion, water quality modeling for Tehri reservoir, Panshet and reservoir, Chilika lake, in fresh water environment.  Completed a project on Physico – chemical, biological (Plankton) and microbiological (E.coli) analysis of water and wastewater for the purpose of finding out water quality and pollution status of coastal and freshwater (lakes rivers and reservoirs) ecosystems.  Completed a project on Chemical analyses of construction materials like fly ash cement and mortar.
