1. Reference for Doug McDowell

Doug McDowell has brought enthusiasm and professionalism to Northern California automation sales for
the last ten years. His support of GE’s Open Process installations at Calpine was a real value to our
organization.
Calpine adopted GE’s hybrid DCS platform at multiple simple cycle power plants after careful evaluation
of demonstrations from Doug and his team. As with any complex control system, we experienced
complications during start up and commissioning. Doug was able to find a local expert to work through
Super Bowl weekend at our King City facility so that we met our start up deadline. In another instance,
Doug convinced his headquarters to send a technical expert to support the installation at our Bethpage, NY
location. When we needed support for our iFix HMI system at the Geysers in California, Doug found
another local expert to help with upgrades. We rewarded GE with additional projects as a result of this
support.
Doug continued to follow up, introduce new products, and invite us to seminars even after Calpine went
through financial difficulties and stopped new construction. When I took a position with Doyan and saw
opportunities for automation, I contacted Doug and started to work his team. I enjoy working with Doug
and hope to continue to do so in whatever endeavors we pursue.
