From its international headquarters in New York City, ORBIS is dedicated to
preventing and treating blindness through a combination of training,
research, public advocacy, and local health care partnerships. Since 2010,
ORBIS has sponsored an annual Pull for Sight event at regional airports in
Toronto, Vancouver, and other major cities around the world . The Pull for

teams to move a commercial aircraft by pulling on an attached towline.
4. ORBIS Pull for Sight
The 2013 Pull for Sight event in Ireland, for example, attracted more than
300 people to Shannon Airport, including teams of participants from
companies like Eirtech Aviation and GE Capital Aviation Services. The
teams compete to tow an 85-ton plane for a length of 12 feet in the fastest
possible time. Contributing 150 euros per team member, these participants
ultimately raised a total of 32,000 euros to combat blindness on a global
scale.
