1. The Future Of Digital: Automation
Author: Don Phillips
2. Automation, and its rapid growth.
Do the cons outweigh the benefits of our reliance on automation?
⢠Humans and the downsides to
being reliant on automation and a
further look into the effects that
may hinder our prosperity from
our complacency
3. Would the technological
advancements made in the
world of Automation hinder
or interfere with human
purpose, or even create a
lack there of?
âIâm so glad I
bought a
farm in the
metaverseâ
5. Main Argument
⢠Automation could never
replace humans, no matter
which way you look at it, there
are upsides in precise actions
we as humans would find
nearly impossible to execute,
but in every other category I
believe humans supersede the
need for automation. We
physically are not meant for an
autonomous world, and I
believe we should be made
aware of what the downsides
to automation are so we can
compensate for them.
6. Background
Information
â˘While automation is highly reliable, are we prepared for the days it no longer can help us?
In dire situations we can observe how human error was far less catastrophic than when automation
failed. Job loss to automation statistics suggest that
⢠71% of total task-hours in the work force are currently completed by humans,
⢠29% that are done by machines.
⢠In just four years the average will shift to 58% completed by humans and 42% by machines.
7. Importance
⢠We have to realize where we as humans need to
keep sharp, our capabilities have been
sharpened by nature for millenniums and it is in
our best interest to never shy away from that.
The comfort we have momentarily, could cost
us everything in the future, without technology,
could we really survive out there?
⢠We would have only hours to prepare for the
entire technological infrastructure to be wiped
out in the event of a solar storm or other events
out of our control.
8. SOLUTION
The first step to solving this problem would be to be able to check
our blind-spots and try and recognize where we as humans fall
short in terms of our physical attributes shaped over time, and what
we can do to supplement for our trade off with automation to keep
us and our offspring prepared for a world without it.
REMEMBER: OUR PSHYCHOLOGICAL MAKEUP IS
PRODUCED BY BIOLOGICAL FACTORS, NOT DIGITAL.
STAY SHARP!
9. Step By Step Plan
⢠Understanding the different types of automation
out there and sifting through which of the
processes are hindering our mental health, our
physical health, and reflexes and critical
thinking skills, our connection with each other,
as well as supplementing our reward systems in
our brain.
10. Benefits
Knowing how we are wired, and how we compare to our
artificially intelligent counterparts should be a common thing.
Everyone in this would should make it a point to be in tune
with their physical self aside from the technology, there is no
guarantee we can keep what weâve built, but we can guarantee
that the human race will still find a way to thrive without it.
