Database of IS tools and applications utilized within the Dow Chemical
Company. The Commercial Solutions Dataset, now available within the
Application Portfolio, lists the tools and applications being used by the Marketing and Sales pro-
fessionals here at Dow. An important need within the company is clear, accurate and centralized
documentation of the functionality and use of these tools.
>> Goal
1.Update entries of the Commercial Solutions Dataset within the Application Portfolio to incor-
porate tool and application category, capability, and Dow business and region usage
2.Create a consistent template and process for documenting tool and application functionality to
be used this Summer and onward
3.Analyze and document the functionality of assigned groupings within the Commercial Solu-
tions Dataset

1. Updated Application Portfolio entries with new business and region usage details
2. Identified overlaps in category and capability and focused on smaller subsets by their com-
mercial relevance
3. Interviewed technical and functional resources aligned to the selected tools and applications
to understand and document functionality and usage of tools

curred in the infrastructure and monitor-
ing system. Operations management rec-
ognizes each occurrence addresses prob-
lems in an accurate and timely manner.

1. Analyze the events data in the CMDB to identify problematic, underlying
patterns
2. Visually graph (problematic) suspected data and find distinct pattern
3. Identify which events cannot be found in the CMDB

1. Manipulated events data in order to extrapolate unseen patterns
2. Ran distributions on events data for visual pattern recognition
3. Found and corrected events in the CMDB
