lies on the Kathiawar peninsula and a population of 60.4million . It is the fifth largest state in India by area and
ninth largest state by population . Gujarat is bordered by Rajasthan to the north west Dadra and Nagar Haveli and
Daman and Diu to the south , Maharashtra to the southeast , Madhya Pradesh to the east and the Arabian sea
and the Pakistani province of Sindh to the west .

national tree of India ,whose branches root

• Formation of Haryana
• Haryana is located in the northern part of the country. Haryana as a state came in to
existence on 1st November 1966 under the Punjab Reorganization Act 1966. The
Indian government set up the Shah Commission under the chairmanship of Justice JC
Shah on 23 April 1966 to divide existing state of Punjab and determine the boundaries of
the new state of Haryana after concideration of the languages spoken by the people.
The commission recommended that the tehsil of Khara, which includes Chandigarh,
the state capital of Punjab, should be a part of Haryana. However Kharar was given
to Punjab. Haryanvi is the state language of Haryana. Chandigarh is the capital
of Haryana. Chandigarh serves as the joint capital of both Haryana and Punjab.

• State bird of Haryana- Black Francolin is a game bird in
the pheasant family Phasianidae of the order
Galliformes gallinaceous birds. Locally known as
Kala Teetar.
State flower of Haryana- Lotus is the national flower of
both India and Vietnam. It is an aquatic flower blooming from
the deepest and thick mud. The Lotus is a sacred flower for
Hindus and Buddhists.
