Pharmacy derived from a Greek word ‘PHARMAKON’ which means
MEDICINE or DRUG.
Pharmacy is the clinical health science that links medical science with
chemistry and it is charged with the discovery, production, disposal,
safe and effective use, and control of medications and drug.
In general sense; Pharmacy is the art and science of MANUFACTURING
and DISPENSING of drugs prepared by natural and synthetic sources
and using them for the Treatment and Prevention of diseases.

Pharmaceutics is unique to pharmacy.
Physicians and other prescribers don’t learn and apply physical
pharmaceutical principles.
Pharmaceutics is the discipline of pharmacy that deals with the
process of turning a new chemical entity or old drug into a
medication to be used safely and effectively by patients.
It is also called the science of DOSAGE FORM DESIGN.
