Setting

Mood

The Scene takes place at the end of the mission “Loose Ends” after Task Force 141
members Roach and Ghost attempt to capture Russian Terrorist Makarov, after
failing to capture him they attempt to escape from the Russian Soldiers with help
from the United States Army. Roach gets Injured and shoots the enemy soldiers as
Ghost helps carry him to a military chopper which has General Shepherd on board,
Shepherd at first helps Ghost carry Roach on board but as soon as Ghost gives
Shepherd intel containing information on Makarov, Shepherd shoots Roach in the
chest and then shoots Ghost in the eye, murdering them both and betraying Task
Force 141. Then two American soldiers are seen throwing Roach and Ghost’s lifeless
bodies into a ditch and cover them in gasoline, then as Roach and Ghost’s Captain
Price is heard shouting into their headsets that Shepherd is not to be trusted,
Shepherd throws his lighted cigar into the ditch, setting their bodies on fire.
Shepherd then slowly walks off and calls for a chopper as the screen fades to black.
The mood is a very tense one at the start as Ghost and Roach are desperately trying
to escape the Russians. Then it seems as if they’re saved as Shepherd assists them,
but it becomes very shocking as Shepherd shoots them both. Then the scene is a
very sad one as Roach and Ghost are seen being set on fire and as their captain is
heard screaming into the headset to not trust Shepherd and as the screen fades to
black.

There is lots of dramatic music at the start as
Roach is shooting the Russian Soldiers, but it
quiets down as Shepherd helps carry Roach to the
chopper, but as Shepherd shoots Roach and
Ghost, the dramatic music picks back up and
becomes louder towards the end.

Game genre

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is a FPS Action game.

Narrative

There is not much narrative in the scene, with the only talking being a short
conversation between Ghost and Shepherd, and Price shouting into the headset
saying that Shepherd is not to be trusted.

The music at the start of the cutscene shows the
danger the Russians are bringing as they’re
chasing Ghost and Roach. Then the music stops as
Ghost and Shepherd have a short conversation.
Then after both Ghost and Roach are shot by
Shepherd, the music comes back but in a much
sadder tone, which continues and becomes much
louder until the end of the scene.
They are many dramatic scenes and music
throughout the game.
The music notably quiets down as they are heard
talking.
