The 2013 Fall album release season is upon us; and in the hiphop world, it begins with new material from a bevy of hiphop
veterans. Here's a quick synopsis of what's coming up for October.
Featured October Hiphop Release:
Oct. 1 Deltron 3030, Event II Cult hiphop supergroup Deltron 3030 return from a thirteen year hiatus on Oct. 1st. Their selftitled
debut was a concept album which spun a complex narrative. Frontman Deltron aka Del the Funky Homosapien delineated "a
postapocalyptic world, morbid, and horrid" in the year 3030 with Orwellian overtones. Combined with the achingly innovative
production by Dan the Automator, and warped, futuristic scratching of DJ virtuoso Kid Koala; Deltron 3030 became an unexpected
underground favorite after its May 2000 release.
The long awaited followup Event II reunites the cast and continues the story where the debut left off. There are also some interesting
guest contributions from The Lonely Island, Black Rob, and David Cross among others. Event II is certainly a huge point of interest to
underground hiphop enthusiasts, though the scifi concept like frontman Del will not be for everyone. That said: the album is
available in advance of its official instore release date to stream here via Pitchfork.
Psssst...... The final track 16. "Do You Remember (feat. Jamie Cullum)" is the best.
Other October Hiphop Releases:
Oct. 1 Cam'ron, Ghetto Heaven Vol. 1 (mixtape) Harlem rapper Cam'ron is releasing this mixtape ahead of his upcoming album
Killa Season 2. Killa Cam hasn't hit big since 2004's Purple Haze, which was a certified classic. His followups Killa Season and
Crime Pays were modestly successful, but lacked the overall continuity evident in Purple Haze. Hiphop heads everywhere have
been hoping for a return to form for Cam. With The Diplomats, and the prodigious, trailblazing production style of The Heatmakerz;
The Dipset sound was the hiphop gold standard of the early 2000's. This mixtape may very well portend whether we see such
