Objectives
• Rebrand and revitalize Knitting Factory Entertainment (KFE), the venerable
diversified music company best known for its iconic live music venues in NY and
LA.
• Assist KFE senior management in assimilating its recent acquisition of Bravo
Entertainment, the 15th largest music touring company in the country, through
which KFE has expanded its reach and impact on the music scene nationwide.
• Help KFE diversify revenue streams beyond selling tickets and beverages to music
club goers.
Strategies
• Develop branded entertainment programs delivered beyond the Knitting Factory
venues via key traditional and new media distribution platforms.
• Re-orient and re-package the KFE offering to make it attractive to distribution
partners and advertisers seeking to connect their brands to emerging music.
• Outreach to traditional and new media distribution partners, and negotiate
partnerships.
• Develop and execute short and long term PR strategy.
Results
• MATTER continues to provide strategic consulting, business development, sales,
marketing and branded entertainment services working with KFE senior
management, and the expanded management of Bravo.
• MATTER has succeeded in re-positioning the KFE brand as the country’s leader in
the discovery of new and emerging music.
• MATTER developed, negotiated and is managing a branded entertainment
partnership with XM Satellite Radio’s independent alternative music channel to
produce a weekly live music show launching in February, 2007, “Live from the
Knitting Factory on XMU” featuring live performances from the Knitting Factory
venues.
• In addition, we have developed strategic partnerships for KFE including YouTube,
Last.FM, Napster, ShopText, MySpace.com, Billboard Magazine, Tribeca Film
Festival, ASCAP and others.
