Computer applications that run on desktop and laptop computers
have, for a long time, been designed to be driven by dragging and
clicking a mouse. With the introduction of tablet personal computers,
the trend has shifted toward using touch-based screens. We now have
access to touch-based TVs, touch-based monitors, and touch-based
laptops. Touch and multi-touch devices provide end users with the
ability to interact physically with an application much more naturally.
Imagine that you have been assigned the task of redesigning your
company‟s applications to run on all devices. Examine a multi-touch
computer monitor and a mouse-driven computer monitor and think
about how the end user interacts with an application running on each
of these types of monitors.
Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you:
1. Compare and contrast the metaphors used in the design of
applications that run on each type of monitor. Use Microsoft
Visio, Microsoft PowerPoint, or any other modeling tool to
create.
2. Differentiate between the interaction types and styles that apply
to these monitors and applications running on them.
3. Describe the conceptual model employed in the design of these
types. Describe the analogies and concepts these monitors
expose to users, including the task-domain objects users
manipulate on the screen.
4. Use at least three (3) quality resources in this
assignment.Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not
qualify as quality resources. You may use the resources above
or others of your choosing.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
 Be typed, double-spaced, using Times New Roman font (size
12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references
must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your
professor for any additional instructions.
 Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the
student‟s name, the professor‟s name, the course title, and the
date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in
the required assignment page length.
The specific course learning outcomes associated with this
assignment are:
 Describe the relationship between the cognitive principles and
their application to interfaces and products.
 Explain the conceptual terms for analyzing human interaction
with affordance, conceptual models, and feedback.
 Explain the importance of user abilities and characteristics in the
usability of products.
 Use technology and information resources to research issues in
human-computer interaction.
 Write clearly and concisely about human-computer interaction
topics using proper writing mechanics and technical style
conventions.

"GPS Interaction and Cognitive Process" Please respond to the
following:
• Imagine that you have been asked to design a GPS product that
will have voice recognition and Bluetooth capability. Discuss and
conceptualize a user interaction model. Predict two (2) problems that
may arise in GPS products with voice recognition and Bluetooth
capability. Recommend solutions for each of these issues.
• Attention is one of the six cognition processes. When attention
is applied to a design, the goal is to make it easier for the end user to
quickly locate where he / she should type information on the
computer or mobile device screen. Compare and contrast how the
Google search engine and theMicrosoft Bing search engine employ
the attention cognition process. Provide your opinion as to which
search engine better employs the attention cognition process and
explain why.

Case Study 1: Using Technology as Experience Framework
Due Week 3 and worth 50 points
Download the case study titled, “Using the „Technology as
Experience‟ Framework,” from http://www.id-
book.com/casestudy_5-1.php.
The user experience framework can help designers constrain and
scope the user experience of a given system. The user experience
framework also informs about the relationship between a conceptual
model and a user‟s understanding of it for past, current, and future
systems. The case study actually consists of two studies. For this
evaluation, consider the first one by Heather Collins on an online
fundraising Website. She used primarily the sensory and
compositional threads of the framework, leading to insights on how
fundraising organizations can maximize their Websites to tell a
compelling story to a potential donor that is balanced in content and
emotion. Collins‟ design combines elements of storytelling,
appropriate emotional triggers, and a welcoming atmosphere to
encourage potential donors to act by making a donation, volunteering
their time, telling their friends, or attending a related event. Through
this process, the donor can create a meaningful connection to a cause
or problem directly impacting their community. The personal
connection makes the online donation experience pleasurable for the
user.
Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you:
1. Explain how the Web user interfaces help donors to make
decisions.
2. Relate the emotional thread demonstrated in the case study to
the emotional design model as discussed in Chapter 5 of the
textbook.
3. Explain how the compositional thread is used in the case study.
4. Use the user experience framework to create five (5) product
evaluation criteria using sensory and compositional threads.
 Explain the characteristics of human-centered design methods.
 Create a product evaluation through a formal framework.
 Use technology and information resources to research issues in
human-computer interaction.
 Write clearly and concisely about human-computer interaction
topics using proper writing mechanics and technical style
conventions.

CIS 375 Week 3 Discussion
"Social Media and Behavior Interaction" Please respond to the
following:
• Interacting and communicating with other people is part of
daily life. This includes face-to-face conversations, conversations
over the phone or other mobile devices, and conversations through
social media. Read the article titled, “Is social media ruining our kids‟
social skills?” Provide your opinion on the effect that texting and
social media (i.e., Twitter, Snap Chat, Facebook, etc.) are having on
individuals‟ abilities to articulate a face-to-face conversation. Support
your opinion with one (1) example from your personal experience or
an incident in the media.
• Emotional interaction is a behavioral reaction that is reflected
by an individual‟s feeling when interacting with technology. Examine
the affect that the visceral design of a laptop has on an individual‟s
behavioral response compared to the affect that the visceral design of
a smartphone has.

Also available athttp://www.jhuapl.edu/techdigest/TD/td2604/Gersh.pdf Computer applications that run on desktop and laptop computers have, for a long time, been designed to be driven by dragging and clicking a mouse. With the introduction of tablet personal computers, the trend has shifted toward using touch-based screens. We now have access to touch-based TVs, touch-based monitors, and touch-based laptops. Touch and multi-touch devices provide end users with the ability to interact physically with an application much more naturally. Imagine that you have been assigned the task of redesigning your company‟s applications to run on all devices. Examine a multi-touch computer monitor and a mouse-driven computer monitor and think about how the end user interacts with an application running on each of these types of monitors. Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you: 1. Compare and contrast the metaphors used in the design of applications that run on each type of monitor. Use Microsoft Visio, Microsoft PowerPoint, or any other modeling tool to create. 2. Differentiate between the interaction types and styles that apply to these monitors and applications running on them. 3. Describe the conceptual model employed in the design of these types. Describe the analogies and concepts these monitors expose to users, including the task-domain objects users manipulate on the screen. 4. Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment.Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources. You may use the resources above or others of your choosing. Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
  • 5.  Be typed, double-spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.  Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student‟s name, the professor‟s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length. The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:  Describe the relationship between the cognitive principles and their application to interfaces and products.  Explain the conceptual terms for analyzing human interaction with affordance, conceptual models, and feedback.  Explain the importance of user abilities and characteristics in the usability of products.  Use technology and information resources to research issues in human-computer interaction.  Write clearly and concisely about human-computer interaction topics using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions. *********************************** CIS 375 Week 2 Discussion GPS Interaction and Cognitive Process For more classes visit www.snaptutorial.com CIS 375 Week 2 Discussion
  • 6. "GPS Interaction and Cognitive Process" Please respond to the following: • Imagine that you have been asked to design a GPS product that will have voice recognition and Bluetooth capability. Discuss and conceptualize a user interaction model. Predict two (2) problems that may arise in GPS products with voice recognition and Bluetooth capability. Recommend solutions for each of these issues. • Attention is one of the six cognition processes. When attention is applied to a design, the goal is to make it easier for the end user to quickly locate where he / she should type information on the computer or mobile device screen. Compare and contrast how the Google search engine and theMicrosoft Bing search engine employ the attention cognition process. Provide your opinion as to which search engine better employs the attention cognition process and explain why. *********************************** CIS 375 Week 3 Case Study 1: Using Technology as Experience Framework For more classes visit www.snaptutorial.com Case Study 1: Using Technology as Experience Framework Due Week 3 and worth 50 points Download the case study titled, “Using the „Technology as Experience‟ Framework,” from http://www.id- book.com/casestudy_5-1.php. The user experience framework can help designers constrain and scope the user experience of a given system. The user experience
  • 7. framework also informs about the relationship between a conceptual model and a user‟s understanding of it for past, current, and future systems. The case study actually consists of two studies. For this evaluation, consider the first one by Heather Collins on an online fundraising Website. She used primarily the sensory and compositional threads of the framework, leading to insights on how fundraising organizations can maximize their Websites to tell a compelling story to a potential donor that is balanced in content and emotion. Collins‟ design combines elements of storytelling, appropriate emotional triggers, and a welcoming atmosphere to encourage potential donors to act by making a donation, volunteering their time, telling their friends, or attending a related event. Through this process, the donor can create a meaningful connection to a cause or problem directly impacting their community. The personal connection makes the online donation experience pleasurable for the user. Write a two to three (2-3) page paper in which you: 1. Explain how the Web user interfaces help donors to make decisions. 2. Relate the emotional thread demonstrated in the case study to the emotional design model as discussed in Chapter 5 of the textbook. 3. Explain how the compositional thread is used in the case study. 4. Use the user experience framework to create five (5) product evaluation criteria using sensory and compositional threads. Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:  Be typed, double-spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.  Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student‟s name, the professor‟s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
  • 8. The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:  Explain the characteristics of human-centered design methods.  Create a product evaluation through a formal framework.  Use technology and information resources to research issues in human-computer interaction.  Write clearly and concisely about human-computer interaction topics using proper writing mechanics and technical style conventions. *********************************** CIS 375 Week 3 Discussion Social Media and Behavior Interaction For more classes visit www.snaptutorial.com CIS 375 Week 3 Discussion "Social Media and Behavior Interaction" Please respond to the following: • Interacting and communicating with other people is part of daily life. This includes face-to-face conversations, conversations over the phone or other mobile devices, and conversations through social media. Read the article titled, “Is social media ruining our kids‟ social skills?” Provide your opinion on the effect that texting and social media (i.e., Twitter, Snap Chat, Facebook, etc.) are having on individuals‟ abilities to articulate a face-to-face conversation. Support your opinion with one (1) example from your personal experience or an incident in the media. • Emotional interaction is a behavioral reaction that is reflected by an individual‟s feeling when interacting with technology. Examine
  • 9. the affect that the visceral design of a laptop has on an individual‟s behavioral response compared to the affect that the visceral design of a smartphone has. *********************************** CIS 375 Week 4 Assignment 2: Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) For more classes visit www.snaptutorial.com Assignment 2: Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) Due Week 4 and worth 100 points In a virtual world (VW) of massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs), collaboration and communication are provided through the Internet between MMORPG-ready devices such as the Microsoft Xbox, and Sony PlayStation, and by using the Web browser. Gamers can play against other gamers without seeing the opponent face-to-face. Playing games this way has become a social phenomenon. For example, chess players can play against other chess players anywhere in the world at http://gameknot.com/ using a Web browser. Write a four to five (4-5) page paper in which you: 1. Describe cognitive social phenomena that occur specifically to the context of the MMORPG that wouldn‟t happen in a face-to- face chess game. 2. Compare and contrast the MMORPG interaction environment and a face-to-face environment where chess is being played on a
  • 10. real chessboard. Identify if the environment has an impact on the player‟s ability to play chess. 3. List and describe the user interface guidelines that should apply to designing MMORPGs. 4.
