4. Be Blameless
Genesis 6:9–10 (NIV)9
This is the account
of Noah. Noah was a
righteous man,
blameless among
the people of his
time, and he walked
with God. 10 Noah
had three sons:
Shem, Ham and
Japheth.
5. Be blameless even when surrounded
by corruption
Genesis 6:11–12 11
Now the earth was
corrupt (ruined
NET) in God’s sight
and was full of
violence. 12 God
saw how corrupt
the earth had
become, for all the
people (flesh
NASB) on earth
had corrupted their
ways.
6. God will judge the unrighteous
(NIV) Genesis 6:13 So God said to Noah, “I am
going to put an end to all people (lit. “all
flesh”), for the earth is filled with violence
because of them. I am surely going to destroy
both them and the earth.
(NASB95) Genesis 6:13 Then God said to
Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before
Me; for the earth is filled with violence
because of them; and behold, I am about to
destroy (Ruin) them with the earth.
7. God gives refuge to the blameless
Genesis 6:14 So make yourself an ark of
cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat
it with pitch inside and out.
Kaphor
8. God’s people take on big projects
Genesis 6:15
This is how
you are to
build it: The
ark is to be
450 feet long,
75 feet wide
and 45 feet
high.
10. Years & Who Helped?
• It took 120 years
• Who Helped?
– His kids: Shem,
Ham, Japheth
– His dad? Lamech
– His granddad?
Methuselah
11. God cares about the details
Genesis 6:16 Make
a roof for it and
finish the ark to
within 18 inches of
the top. Put a door
in the side of the
ark and make
lower, middle and
upper decks.
12. God’s warns in advance of judgment
Genesis 6:17 I am going to bring floodwaters
on the earth to destroy all life under the
heavens, every creature that has the
breath of life in it. Everything on earth will
perish.
13. God saves others because of the
blameless.
Genesis 6:18 But I will establish my
covenant with you, and you will enter the
ark—you and your sons and your wife and
your sons’ wives with you.
14. Even creation is saved because of
the blameless
Genesis 6:19–20 19 You
are to bring into the
ark two of all living
creatures, male and
female, to keep them
alive with you. 20 Two
of every kind of bird,
of every kind of animal
and of every kind of
creature that moves
along the ground will
come to you to be
kept alive.
15. God provides for his children
Genesis 6:21 You are
to take every kind
of food that is to be
eaten and store it
away as food for
you and for them.”
16. The righteous follow God’s detailed
instructions.
Genesis 6:22 (NIV) Noah did everything just
as God commanded him.
Genesis 6:22 (NET) And Noah did all that
God commanded him – he did indeed.
17. We Learn About God From Noah:

his creation.
• God will often use that which has been ruined to
ruin.
• God saves (covers) the blameless from the
punishment of the wicked.
• The righteousness on one person can protect
others.

those that follow Him.
