5. • The IMASS™ (Integrated Multiplex Assay and Sampling System) device is a fast,
robust and easy-to-use platform for rapid identification, particularly in high pressure
situations:
o Sample directly onto the device
o Up to 8 assay sticks run simultaneously from a single sample

8. IMASS™ Platform Features - Decontamination
• The device can be decontaminated by immersion either after sampling or after
tests have been run
• This was evaluated by collecting a sample onto the buffer sponge before
submerging the device completely for a period of 10 minutes
• After this time the device was run
• All test strips generated the expected results and showed no impaired running or
functionality characteristics
9. IMASS™ Platform feature - Sponge Sample Retention
• The IMASS sampling sponge retains an extracted sample for additional evaluation
after the device has been run
• This was evaluated by sampling and re-culturing gram positive and gram negative
bacteria using the IMASS
10. IMASS ™ Platform - Sponge Performance
• The IMASS sponge was compared to an existing format for sample collection
(cotton swab)
• A 23.5cm2 bioassay plate was sampled using an identical cross-hatch pattern
• The results demonstrated that the IMASS sampling sponge collects dramatically
more material in comparison to the cotton swab

• Francisella Tularensis (TUL)
• Yersinia Pestis (PLA)
• Burkholderia spp. (BRK)
• Brucella spp. (BRU)

• Staphylococcal Enterotoxin B (SEB)
BBI can also develop tests for other biowarfare agents if required

(Falcon Consultancy).
