SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIPS: If a companyentersintoaCVA withitsCreditors,thisis the most
difficulttime fortheirBuyers,withsuppliersbeingunderstandablyreluctanttocontinue doing
business. WhenthishappenedatCPBerryit was the strengthof relationshipsIhadbuiltwith
suppliersthatgotus through. One majorsupplier,crucial tothe business,wasowed£110K. I
managedto negotiate withthemtocontinue tosupply,whilstpaying-off the debtandwithin2
yearshad securedan£85K accountwiththem.
FREE SERVICES: I negotiatedfree waste disposal(tipping) withone site andalsonegotiated
multiple/sharedaccountswith4othercompaniesinorderto minimisecostsinthisarea.
COST SAVINGS: WhenI joinedCPBerrytheywere buyingtarmacplaningsata cost of £43/tonne
froma supplierinRotherham. Aspart of a review of all expenditureIwasable to source an
alternative local supplier,reducingthe price downto£19/tonne. At that time the companywas
ordering110 tonnes/week. Thisresultedinanannual savingof over£137K.
