  2. 2. Around 65% of Americans drink coffee every day. In spite of controversy over whether or not coffee is detrimental to one's health, coffee remains a popular caffeinated drink.
  3. 3. WHAT GOOD IS COFFEE? Attitudes regarding coffee have fluctuated over time with varying levels of truth behind the beliefs. In the 1600s, it was believed that coffee cured alcoholism but caused impotence. In the 1700s,�coffee was believed to help make people work longer hours.� The 1800s brought the belief that coffee would make the drinker go blind. As recent as 2011, there was a common belief that coffee could reduce the risk of stroke, prostate cancer, and heart disease.

  5. 5. POSITIVE BENEFITS As it turns out, several scientific studies have documented a number of benefits to the regular consumption of coffee!
  6. 6. Drinking coffee can boost your physical performance. Having a cup before a workout will increase your performance by 11-12 percent. Coffee can also help you lose weight; it contains magnesium and potassium, which regulates blood sugar levels and reduces cravings for sugar.
  7. 7. Coffee also helps protect your brain! High levels of caffeine can help lower the risk of developing Alzheimer's and dementia. There are a number of other health benefits to drinking coffee that have now been validated by the scientific community.
