Our client is a global leader in the manufacture of high-yield solid propellants. Due to
continued growth they now have an immediate requirement for a Chemist to join their UK
team based in the South Midlands.
In this role you will be responsible for the research, development and manufacture of
materials suitable for use in high performance motors. You will ensure that these materials
meet strict requirements in relation to physical, chemical and mechanical properties under
extreme conditions such as temperature, vibration and pressure. You will be working with a
range of materials including, metals, polymers and ceramics and will be responsible for
formulating polymeric insulation and inhibition materials and double base and composite
propellants and developing the manufacturing process.
It is envisaged that the successful candidate will have a degree or equivalent qualification in
chemistry with an in-depth knowledge of polymer chemistry, moulding, extrusion and
spraying. You will also be conducting standard laboratory tests for physical and chemical
properties and non standard tests for erosion, ballistic and bond properties.
