John Adams is also on his deathbed, and passes his
part of the Cipher to Sylvanus Thayer,
Superintendent of the U.S. Military Academy.
Almost 200 years later, people are being killed trying
to assemble the parts of the Cipher and uncover the
secret they contain.

founded.
Alexander Hamilton was one of its leading
members.
Thomas Jefferson was not allowed membership.

years. He also established the Military
Philosophical Society at West Point.
The APS still has its headquarters in

opponents and had different views for the future of the
