The document discusses an art project in Artà, Mallorca where students created artworks out of recycled materials to promote recycling and environmental protection. The students made a tree sculpture with branches made of paperboard attached to a wooden structure. They also created other art pieces using recycled materials that were displayed in classrooms like an art gallery. The project highlights the importance of recycling, reusing, and reducing waste to benefit the environment and encourages creative expression using discarded items.
2. Artà is a recycling village
Selective collection of waste
since February 2013
Importance for the village and
the environment.
One of the first villages in the
island.
3. Importance of the 3 ‘R’s
Recycle, Reuse and Reduce.
If we apply them to our daily
lives, the world will be healthier
and we will benefit from it.
Art as a way of starting using
recycled materials.
4. Be creative, help the
environment
Lots of examples of Art made
our of waste.
Artistic expression does not
depend on the materials which
are used.
The more we create, the more
reasons we’ll have to keep
helping the environment.
5. Our tree
We created a tree following the
instructions of Art teacher
Marta.
It’s a symbol of harmony and it
represents all the good things
about nature.
The branches had peace
messages.
6. The Process
Tree-shaped wooden structure.
Natural size.
Branches made of paperboard
and different sizes (small,
medium and big)
They were empty inside so that
it was easier to hang on the
structure.
7. The Process
Branches joined to the structure
with glue.
Once they are joined, we
covered them up with
newspaper.
We added the branches to the
structure and we had a nice
tree!
8. Other “works of art”
We created other pieces of art
out of recycled materials
They are put together in the
upper classrooms.
We turned the rooms into art
galleries.

10. Conclusions
Sometimes we decide that things
cannot be used anymore and it is
not true.
We need to have the eyes to
imagine new uses for second
hand objects or materials.
Recycling should be compulsory
everywhere. The more we recycle,
the more we help the environment.
Creativity shouldn’t be killed, it
should be encouraged.
