The media can be a critical tool in promoting a business or project, and help
entrepreneurs reach a wider consumer base and audience.
• Press releases about the release of a new product, the start of a new
company, or a major event.
• Use of social media sites, including Twitter, Facebook, and Google Plus. More
companies and media are also turning toward Instagram and Pinterest.
1- IT IS CRITICAL FOR BUSINESSES
TO ENGAGE WITH THE MEDIA THROUGH:
1- Research national and local media and develop a contact database with
emails, phone numbers, and name of publication.
2- Use this database to send press releases. Each press release needs to answer
the following:
- Who? - What?
- Where? - When?
- Why? - How?

3- Create a communication strategy for dealing with the press. Think of
questions that you could possibly be asked about your business and have
answers prepared in advance. Always be prepared with a clear message that is
easily understood and can be widely shared.
4- Write guest articles for publications. This helps get your name (and that of
your company) in the media and allows you to get to know other journalists
firsthand.
Through direct engagement with journalists, your company or project’s mission
and vision can be shared with even more people, putting you on the path to wider
engagement and publicity.
