The document is a letter from Dr. Margaret Lucero, Associate Dean and Professor of Management at The Island University, to Clinton Yates regarding his score on the Major Field Test for Business. It provides Clinton's percentile score of 90, which means he scored higher than 90% of other business students nationally. It also notes that scores above the 50th percentile are considered very good and that Clinton will receive points in MGMT 4388 based on his percentile score since it was above the 19th percentile cutoff. Students who scored below the 19th percentile must retake the exam on December 2nd.

Dear Clinton Yates:
As part of your graduation requirements, you recently completed the Major Field Test for Business.
Below is the percentile which relates to your score. The percentile score represents the percentage of all
students taking the Major Field Test nationally whose score was lower than your score. For example, if
you received a percentile score of 60 percent, these numbers would be interpreted as: “On average, 60
percent of business seniors taking the Major Field Test, scored lower on the Major Field Test than I did.”
You should note that a score above the 50th
percentile is considered a very good score on the Major Field
Test. That means you are “above average” among business students nationwide. As a result, between 65
and 70 percent of scores for those taking this test nationwide will range from about 139 to about 165.
As stated in the MGMT 4388 syllabus, you also receive the points in MGMT 4388 based on the earned
percentile score if you scored above the 19th percentile. You are required to retake the MFT if you did
not score above the 19th percentile. The re-take is scheduled for Friday, December 2, 2016 at 2:30 p.m.
in CCH 207 or 208. Students retaking the MFT will receive a follow-up email with additional details.
Thank you for completing the Major Field Test. We hope this experience has benefited you and enhanced
the pursuit of employment in your chosen field. We appreciation your participation since the MFT
provides important information to the College of Business regarding student learning.
Sincerely,
Margaret Lucero, Ph.D.
