World History: The Human Experience
Description:
In World History class, the student will:
1.) Identify – The world’s geographical, natural and physical features.
Explain how history has been affected by these historical
developments.
2.) Describe – The development and growth of political, economic and
social systems in different societies. Explain how these systems have
changed society.
3.) Evaluate – Challenges/choices that society has made. Critically
analyze how these choices or changes can or will affect our world.
Goals:
1st
– 9 weeks: Early Civilizations
2nd
-9 weeks: The Middle Ages and Renaissance Periods
3rd
- 9 weeks: The Age of Change (Monarchy to Democracy)
4th
– 9 weeks: The Modern World
Required Materials: (by the end of the first week of school)
1 ½ inch 3-ring binder with pockets
Notebook paper
Colored pencils
Pens or pencils
In order to be successful in class students MUST bring a pen or pencil each
day. Failure to be prepared for class will result in a consequence.

Homework Policy:
Homework is to be turned in on time. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Grading Policy:
Your grade will be determined by your effort in class.
The Grading Rubric is as follows:
Daily Assignments – (in-class and out of class work) 30%
Quizzes – (Weekly) 10%
Exams- (3 Week, 6 Week and 9 Week Exams) 20%
Student Portfolio (binder – to be kept in classroom) 30%
Essay – (Completed at end of every 9 weeks) 10%
Make-up Work Policy:
The George I. Sanchez Charter School Make-up Policy is that students will
have 3 days after an EXCUSED absence to turn in their missing work.
Major Tests:
There will be an exam every 3, 6 and 9 weeks. There will also be a final
semester exam.
