The problem is that the soldiers who are heading home from serving
our country need a place to stay to get back to being back in the states
and recover from what they have seen in the war.
President Reagan once said “Some people wonder all their lives if
they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem.”
Our warriors deserve a nice homecoming and somewhere to get
back into their life. The Gipper Warrior Transition Unit is designed
to welcome home the warriors and to remember the great
President Reagan who was always fighting for those who give there
all for freedom and liberty. The 40th President of the United States,
Ronald Reagan was a man of many colors. Starting his career as a
radio broadcaster and then as an actor, Reagan moved on to serve
the nation as a soldier. He finally jumped into the political arena to
become one of the stalwarts of American politics. President Reagan
nickname was “The Gipper.”
The U.S. Army established Warrior Transition
Units (WTUs) at major military treatment facilities
(MTFs) located around the world. WTUs provide
personalized support to wounded, ill and injured
Soldiers who require at least six months of
rehabilitative care and complex medical
management, as well as mobilized Reserve
Component Soldiers requiring definitive care
A Community-Based Warrior Transition Unit
(CBWTU) functions as a WTU for Soldiers who
receive medical care in their community such as
Department of Defense (DoD), TRICARE, or
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare
facilities. The CBWTU primarily provides outpatient
care management and transition services for Army
Reserve and National Guard Soldiers (COMPO 2 and
3) who do not need the day-to-day medical
management provided by WTUs on Army
installations. The CBWTU enables the Soldier to
recover and transition at the location closest to
his/her personal support network or in his/her
home, if it can be medically supported. Clinical care
requirements determine whether a Soldier is
assigned to a WTU or CBWTU.
