MEMORANDUM FOR RECORD
SUBJECT: Letter of Recommendation for SSG McGlone, Christopher
1. I strongly endorse SSG Christopher McGlone for exceptional character, work ethic,
integrity, among many other qualities. While serving as the Command Sergeant Major
for the 2d Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Regiment, I had the privilege to work closely with
SSG McGlone while he was serving as a Battalion Retention NCO. I observed SSG
McGlone dedicate himself to being an exceptional leader and comprehensive Soldier
during his tenure at 2-11 FAR. SSG McGlone was physically and mentally a well-
rounded leader who could lead from all avenues of approach. SSG McGlone was a true
professional who took his job very seriously and always looked for opportunities to help
Soldiers. He was aggressive and thought outside the box to train and mentor Soldiers.
His dedication to doing the right thing and hard work turned our retention program
around and made it the standard within the division.
2. I had the opportunity to witness SSG McGlone’s exemplary character and sense of
duty during two rotations at the Pohakolua Training Area, Big Island, HI, and one
rotation to the National Training Center. He expertly planned, resourced, and executed
training for Soldiers during the span of those exercises without fail, often going above
and beyond expectations. SSG McGlone was a leader who could lead from the front
without question. He volunteered to lead and plan the base defense, which turned out
to be exceptional as noted by several observers and leaders from both inside and
outside of the unit.
3. SSG McGlone has my highest recommendation to become a leader in any
organization he joins. He earned a stellar reputation while serving in the 2-11 FAR due
to his ability to be a full circle leader and care for the Soldiers. .
