The Flagler College Enactus team is preparing for the 2016 competition season with new members and projects. They are working hard to improve results from ongoing projects like Quality Time, which provides mentoring to young men in juvenile detention facilities. In January, the team met with a representative from Enactus who provided career advice and opportunities. They are excited to present new projects at the regional competition in April in hopes of advancing to the national competition in May.
Flagler Enactus Prepares for Competition Season 2016
1. FLAGLER COLLEGE ENACTUS
January 2016
January is always an exciting month—the
spring semester has barely begun and, as you all
know, Flagler Enactus is already in full gear
preparing for yet another competition season. 2016
seems to be a promising year: after a successful
club night & great turnout for the first two general
meetings of the semester, we are gaining new,
motivated members and growing our family. We
are currently working, full speed ahead, on getting
results for projects both old & new, while always
finding new ways to improve our team as we get
ready for what we believe will be a successful and
rewarding year!
As we are eager to move forward, it's also a
time for looking back. Our team wouldn't be where
we are today without its past members! We are
constantly thankful for the time and effort you have
put into Flagler Enactus as students & for your
continued support in our team as alumni.
Happy New YEar from
Flagler Enactus!

2. On Wednesday, January 27th, the Flagler
Enactus team was thrilled to have Kirk Baumann,
VP of Enactus Career Services, join us at our
general meeting. Throughout his 10 years at
Enactus, Kirk has been a continuous supporter of
Flagler Enactus and shows great enthusiasm and
passion with each student. Our members enjoyed
the chance to ask about job & internship
opportunities within Enactus. Baumann shared
great advice, tips & opportunities for students to
take advantage of, as well as insights into a few
Enactus Partner Companies. He left our members
with words of wisdom as he emphasized how
important it is to pursue a career you are
passionate about: "Do what lights your fire!"
The Flagler College Enactus team has
been working with local correctional facilities since
2010. The ages of the young men inside the
facilities range from 13-18 years old. When they
are released, they leave with little job skills and
statistically, 2 out of 3 will be in an adult
correctional facility within 3 years. Our team saw
this need in our own community and discovered
that by mentoring and bringing vocational
workshops into the correctional facilities, we are
able to improve the community both socially and
economically.
For 6 years, we have continued the project
through our team members’ passion for
mentorship. Now titled Quality Time, we visit the
St. John’s Juvenile Residential Facility four times
a week for one-on-one mentoring. We prepare the
young men for adulthood by conducting mock
interviews and helping them build a resumé. We
also have a variety of fun activities from creative
writing workshops to painting.
After becoming Co-Project Leader of
Quality Time, Isabella Cioffoletti decided that she
wanted to major in Psychology. She says of the
project, “I enjoy mentoring at the facility because
although we are with the boys for just two hours a
week, it really makes a difference in their lives,
and I saw this through working with my own
mentee. In the beginning, he did not show much
interest in the program, but by the end he had
opened up to me.”

Competition season 2016
We are excited to bring a whole new
group of projects to this year’s competition and
discover what other teams have been working
on. This year will see the return of a regional
round of competition before the National
Competition takes place.
We will be attending the Atlanta,
Georgia Regional Competition on April 1st. If
we move on, we will be competing in the 2016
Enactus United States National Exposition,
which will be held May 15- 17th. The National
Competition will once again be located St.
Louis, Missouri. The top team from each
country will move on to compete in the
Enactus 2016 World Cup in Toronto, Canada.
As always, we would love for our
Enactus alumni to attend and cheer us on at
each round of competition. If you plan on
attending one of the competitions please let us
know by emailing us at
