6. Police Brutality
A Bureau of Justice Statistics report in 2008 found that
black people were almost three times more likely than
white people to be subjected to force or threatened with it
by police.
Of reported arrest-related deaths from 2003-2009,
● 61% (2,931) were homicides by law enforcement,
● 11% (541) were suicides,
● 11% (525) were due to intoxication,
● 6% (272) were accidental injuries
● 5% (244) were due to natural causes

FAST FACTS
● Brown was stopped for walking in the middle of the
street
● Eyewitness say that the officer was using vulgar
language and later allegedly grabbed brown by the neck
which led to the scuffle
●
● After the officer first shot Michael then fled on foot,
moments later he was gunned down.
○ There were multiple stories saying that Michael
had his hands up surrendering and that Michael
had tried to take away the gun
● The autopsy report supports the claim that Michael had
had his hands up. he was shot 4 times in his right arm
and 2 times in his head.
● The federal government is now investigating his
murder.
