15. Why Digital Leaders?
Teacher Confidence
We quite rightly
talk to children
about the need to
be resilient.
Are all of our
teachers equally
resilient when it
comes to using
new technologies?

16. Why Digital Leaders?
Student Aptitude
Kids know how to
use this stuff even
if the teachers
don’t.
However, they
don’t always know
how to use it
appropriately and
safely.

Editor's Notes A lot of emphasis is put on oracy and general communication skills. Presenting in front of large audiences is a key life skill, which needs to be taught and practised. Many teachers have told me how there pupils wouldn’t be able to stand up and present information confidently and have often been surprised to find that they were wrong. It’s about giving pupils the opportunities to demonstrate their skills. It’s helpful if there’s an expert in the room, but that expert need not always be a teacher. Giving students opportunities to show off their skills. PGCE students in the 2009-10 academic year would have been talking about netbooks. Since 2010 it’s been all tablets. Talk about the 2 Blackpool Kidsmeets attended by the pupils of Bowling Park, the Digital Leaders Kidsmeet today at BETT run by the Night Zookeper team. Then invite attendees to the #bradfordKidsmeet event on April 22.
