Research into a typical Synopsis of a
           Thriller Genre
• Thriller films are often plotted around a twisted
  of mysterious plot, which use suspense,
  tension, excitement as their main elements.
  There are many emotions in which the audience
  have in watching a thriller film such as; Fear,
  nerve, excitement and tension.
• Thriller films often use cliff hangers as a big part
  of the film giving the audience huge panic and
  terror, but it not only does that but engages
  them in the film. Asking themselves the
  question of ‘What comes next’?
Different examples of thriller films;
• Horror thriller – For example, “the shining”
  directed by Stanley Kubrick. A family heads to an
  isolated hotel for the winter where an evil and
  spiritual presence influences the father into
  violence, while his psychic son sees horrific
  forebodings from the past and of the future.
• Adventure thriller- for example “ die hard”
  directed by John Mctiernan. John McClane and a
  store owner must play a bomber's deadly game
  as they race around New York while trying to stop
  him.
Different examples of thriller films;
• Erotic thriller – for example, “secret things”
  directed by jean Claude Brisseau two young
  women find themselves struggling to survive in
  Paris, street-wise Nathalie, a stripper, and naïve
  Sandrine.
• Psychological thriller- for example “alien”
  directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. 200 years after
  her death, Ellen Ripley is revived as a powerful
  human/Alien hybrid clone who must continue her
  war against the Aliens.
Different examples of thriller films;
• Psychological thriller – for example “The
  talented Mr. Ripley” directed by Anthony
  Minghella. In late 1950's New York, Tom
  Ripley, a young underachiever, is sent to
  Europe to retrieve a rich and spoiled
  millionaire playboy, named Dickie Greenleaf.
  But when the errand fails, Ripley takes
  extreme measures.
Different examples of thriller films;
• Spy thriller- For example “Salt”. Directed by
  Phillip Noyce, A CIA agent goes on the run
  after a defector accuses her of being a Russian
  spy.
• Western thriller- for example “high noon”.
  Directed by fred zinneman. A marshall,
  personally compelled to face a returning
  deadly enemy, finds that his own town refuses
  to help him.
Different examples of thriller films;
• Action thriller- for example “Taken“ directed
  by Pierre Morel. A former spy relies on his old
  skills to save his estranged daughter, who has
  been forced into the slave trade.
• Romance thriller- for example “basic instinct”.
  Directed by Paul detective is in charge of the
  investigation of a brutal murder, in which a
  beautiful and seductive woman could be
  involved. Verhoevan.
Typical props used in a thriller;
• Props such as masks, are usually used in thriller
  films to hide the identity of the villain. For
  example, the movie SCREAM uses this prop, to
  not only create mystery for the audience, but to
  also scare them a little.
• Blood is also another prop used in thriller films; it
  connotes danger, and death.
• Ropes are also used a lot in thriller films. When
  the villain captures his victim, they usually tie
  him/her up so ensure that they don’t get away.
Typical props used in a thriller;
• The cross that represents Jesus Christ is also used
  in some thriller films. This is because some
  thriller films link their narrative to religion.
• And finally props such as knives and guns are also
  one of the main conventions that are used in
  thriller films, as it connotes death. Everybody
  knows that knives can kill or seriously hurt
  someone, therefore when a person is watching a
  film and sees knives; they know something bad is
  going to happen.
