Twitter Feeds
What are Twitter Feeds?
Twitter feeds were created using our top level
keywords for Business Wire and EON
releases. They are used to automate the
delivery of our news releases to industry-
specific Twitter feeds, giving the release more
visibility and a greater likelihood for social
media engagement.

Editor's Notes
The various ways we are posting to websites, online services & databases.
It begins with the feeds we offer Here are the delivery methods NX or FTP Feed – Press releases are coded by editors to include online/databases BW-Hosted – A custom html page or custom RSS feed is built specifically for a media point (or they are pulling RSS from our website directly
Using one of the two methods, we feed the following ways you see here: Directly to a website or online service Directly to a Database for archiving Via a Reseller service
.. And this is how we reach hundreds & thousands of websites
This is an example of what it looks like using real points… Example feeds via NX or FTP to reseller, database, or direct and the websites they feed; Also, example of BW –hosted site and CNS & RSS and the 100s of websites reached this way.
What is it? What does it mean?
By licensing directly media points have a lot more flexibility in how they present the release – turn on/off smartlinks, can choose not to post the company logo or MM It’s the job of our MRT techs to work with the point whenever there is a feed or formatting issue.
MSN Money is an example of a site using our NX delivery. They have the freedom and control in how to present our press releases and multimedia.
MSN uses our logo but AOL is using text.
Most websites retain BW content for 90 days. These traditional databases have an archive of BW content going back to late eighties/early 90s
What it means to license to resellers.. The advantages With third party resellers a website negotiates one contract to get news from multiple sources and vice versa – BW negotiates one contract with a reseller to reach multiple websites.
Via Financial Content
Via Comtex
USA Today from third-party Marketwatch via Comtex
3 rd Party via Comtex
From Acquire Media..
Includes custom RSS feeds.. Our BW-Hosted agreements
This is an example of a Custom News Site – BW is hosting the site.. Has the look/feel of our website yet uses the website’s template
Can be found from MercuryNews main page… This one is using BW exclusively.. No PRN, MarketWire..
Example of Site using our Custom RSS feeds… Post Media sites are pulling in our RSS feed..
Full view that points back to our website.. We are hosting the content and getting the traffic
Release from two weeks ago.. Used by LA Times.. Linked to release on BW site…
A little about finding our content on Search Engines…
All results are the Business Wire release.. Some from our hosted site, some from partners, some are unfamiliar..
Yahoo results show an EON version..
A convenient way to see a popular list of sites that have BW releases..
Some sites carry all of our content…
Some sites, typicall Financial Sites carry only our Public company news
Newspapaer sites – using a variety of delivery and licensing methods –..through a reseller, direct, & BW-hosted sites (CNS)
A mishmash of everything.. Found on Newstrak reports.
This can be found in Insidetrak… Good way to see the specifics of Popular Sites – Something MRT techs refer to for troubleshooting..
International sites..
About our Mobile offerings..
I wanted to do a quick review of our current mobile properties. I left the blackberry application off on purpose since RIM is slowly, maybe inadvertendly, killing the blackberry. Instead, let’s focus on our top mobile properties. 1. Our mobile site was launched in 2009 and is currently hosted and managed by our partners at Mobify. You may be thinking that mobile sites are passe, however only 7% of all million mobile devices sold in 2010 were Apple or Android (according to Gartner). That means we have the potential to reach other 93% with our mobile site. Active Visitors: 2500/month Page Views: ~11K/month 2011: 122K 2. Our iPhone application was lauched in April of 2010 and updated in late summer of this year. Downloads: ~5K Page Views: ~50K/month 2011: 530K 3. Our iPad application was launched in October of 2011.
Now, let’s go over two of Business Wire’s most powerful mobile relationships. The first is AP Mobile which was launched in 2008 (BW content since 2009) 9 million+ application downloads 2 million unique visitors/month 50 million page views/month In addition, we are currently working with AP to update the display of Business Wire press releases to include the first ranked photo, when the release is an SNR. Multimedia on AP by end of year. In the pipeline for AP, look and feel is already approved by BW. AP new iPad and iPhone application this upcoming year. Exclusive to BW and MarketWire for the time being, but could change in 2012.
The second relationship is with AFP and they not only manage our own application, but they also profile BW content on their own application. The AFP application was launched in 2010 ~14K downloads ~5K unique visitors/month ~30K page views/month Languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian
Now, let’s get into the interesting stuff...what the competition is and isn’t doing... On the left, you’ll see a table detailing the top mobile distribution points and which wire service’s content can be found on each. A full listing of the mobile distribution points was already created and will be added to the mobile posting report and provided as a resource after the sales meeting. Again, this is just the top mobile distribution points. PRN has a few exclusives: My Nucleus which happened to be bbroken at the time we checked it and the two owned by PRN’s app developer Newstex: Newsonomics, Newstex. BW is even more exclusive with our AFP, AP, and PostMedia relationships. On the right, you will see a table showing the mobile platforms that each wire service has, or doesn’t have: PRN: Per release, coming soon for BlackBerry and Android devices, but haven’t seen anything. PRWeb: iPod Touch and iPhone discussed via press release in 2009, but nothing is available in the app store. http://smallbiztrends.com/2009/03/prweb-goes-mobile.html MarketWire: none
I wanted to give you a graphical representation of mobile distribution in our industry. You can see that BW is surpassing the competition with 187 mobile distribution points. PRN has 61, MW has 36, and has 35. Again, this is just high level and the actual distribution point names are available as a resource.
Example of application to person messaging that is going to be growing rapidly over the next few years. -- Eric Fletcher will be talking about this on Friday.. Business Wire Mobile Alerts or BWMA was launched earlier this year and is currently being used by Xerox, E*Trade, eBay, MetLife, Intel and over 400 press releases have been sent using this service.
This is fairly new…
You can find them on the News Feed page.. We have a list for EON too but these are not listed on our website..
