Philip Jones Griffiths is a renowned Magnum photographer known for capturing unusual images that depict scenes seeming out of place. Some of his photos highlighted include a boy playing football followed by a tank, suggesting a war zone; a relaxed soldier aiming a gun out a window; a teenage boy casually standing among adults outside a pub; and a white family relaxing not on a beach but in an African village, contrasting lifestyles.
2. The magnum photographer that i chose was Philip Jones
Griffiths. The reason i chose this particular picture is
because I really like the creepy, ghostly feel that comes
from looking at it, the scratched and faded condition gives
it that really good effect.
3. What i really liked about this picture is the bizarre nature of it, you can see a man/ boy
just playing with a football, but then he is being followed by a tank, I was drawn in by
the fact it looks so out of place.
4. What caught my eye about this image is the fact we are lead to believe that the subject in the image is involved in some
kind of war zone, but despite this he is sat back looking relaxed and lazily aiming his gun out of the window.
5. What i liked about this image is, like the tank picture, the 'out of place' nature of it. you can see a few adults
hanging around outside of a pub, and then just casually stood in the middle of them all is what appears to just
be a young teenage boy. There is something about the way he is juts trying to blend in that caught my eye.
6. Once again one of the reasons i was drawn to this was the 'out of place' factor,
with a white family who look like they're just relaxing on some sort of holiday, but
instead of being on the beach, they appear to be in some kind of African village. I
also liked the contrast in life style that can be seen in the image.
