8. Editorial
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to Cardiostim 2012!
As the Chairman of Cardiostim, and considering programs of the previous editions, I do think that
this program is the best ever! The 200 scientific sessions do reflect the present status of our
specialty, and feature the techniques that will be in our hands in the near future.
This program is the result of the participation of colleagues who actively worked for the preparation
of this 2012 Congress. The collaboration of Andreas Goette and his team from EHRA has been
particularly fruitful, with their participation in the difficult task of the abstracts selection, and the
extension of the EHRA program to 31 sessions.
I must thank all friends from the United States who sustainably worked for Cardiostim for years
to provide the highest standard programs and gather the best speakers coming from all over the
world.
• Doug Zipes for Basic Electrophysiology;
• Mel Scheinman for Invasive Electrophysiology and Ablation Techniques;
• Jerry Naccarelli for Treatments in Atrial Fibrillation;
• Wojciech Zareba for Non-Invasive Electrophysiology;
• Nabil El Sherif for Sudden Cardiac Death Management;
• Albert Waldo for Trials;
• David Hayes and David Cannom for Devices;
• Win Shen and Ron Vlietstra for Geriatric Cardiology
These facts are the expression of what Cardiostim is: an international platform where attendees
can exchange with the best experts in the field.
Despite the international financial crisis, the main industry partners went on supporting Cardiostim
as they traditionally did in the past, trusting our work and the team. Once again, I have to thank
all exhibitors and all industry sponsors for their long lasting commitment to Cardiostim.
Last but not least, a special thank to Pierre Bordachar and Frédéric Sacher who have been helpful
and constructive all along the preparation of this edition, to Jocelyne Toulouse for her unconditional
support and fantastic work and to the REED team without whom nothing could happen!
Thank you all for attending. You’ll find everything you need: education, technological advances,
state of the art sessions, science... in a studious and relaxed working atmosphere.
Thank you all for attending
Enjoy Cardiostim 2012!

How to use this Final Program
In the Index, preceding each name, are numbers like: 41/2, 121/3, 56/45, etc.
The first number indicates the session number: 41/2 = session #41.
The second number shows the position of the presentation in that session: 41/2 = second presentation in session #41; if a poster
session, 56/45 indicates the 45th poster of session #56.
The same numbers are used in the Index, the main text of the Final Program, and the EUROPACE Abstract Book (EUROPACE supplement)
for the oral and poster sessions.
