Global warming is the increase of the Earth's temperature due to greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide and methane trapping heat in the atmosphere. Nearly all the observed temperature increase over the past century is attributed to human activity such as pollution and fossil fuel use which have increased greenhouse gas levels. Natural causes like wetlands releasing methane also contribute to global warming but human factors are the main driver of increased temperatures according to scientific studies.
