3. A Brief History of Logan Square’s Establishment
Logan Square is named after Mexican- American War and Civil War General, John
A. Logan.
The neighborhood was settled by Martin Kimbell and other settlers during the
1830s.
Once the Chicago and North Western Railway tracks were laid, Logan Square
began to see multiple businesses move to the area.
The “L” came to Logan Square in 1890, causing many Chicago residents to move
to the area.

4. Fun Facts and Attractions
The Illinois Centennial Monument was put up in Logan Square 1918, it lives in the
center of Logan Square and commemorates the 100th anniversary of Illinois’

5. How to Get There From Loyola
There were several ways to get to Logan Square from Loyola however, we chose
to travel by train:
1. Start out at the Loyola stop on the Red Line headed South towards 95th
2. Exit at State and transfer to the Blue Line headed towards O’Hare
3. Exit at California (Google)
