1. My Remit as Student President (RGU)
WhilstIwas remittedtocarry out the following,the role andpositionevolvedintosomuch
more beyondthe followingbulletpoints.
 Upholdthe aimsand objectsof the Union;
 act as trusteesof the Union;
 be responsibleforthe implementationof the Union’sstrategy;
 representstudentsbothcollectivelyandindividuallytothe university,widercommunityand
national organisations;
 be responsibleforupholdingpolicyandforthe developmentof new policyaroundrelevant
issues;
 act as the primaryspokesperson;
 facilitate studentco-curriculaactivityandadvisingindividualorgroupsof studentsonsuch
activity;
 seekstudentopinionrecognisingthe differentstudentgroupswithinthe universityon
relevantmatters;
 be active participantsinthe partnershipthatexistsbetweenthe Unionandthe universityin
enhancingthe studentexperience;
 RepresentstudentviewsandinterestsonEducationandWelfare mattersinthe University,
locallyandnationally.
 Be responsible foroverseeingactivitiesinrelationtostudentfunding,hardshipand
employmentissues.
 Be responsible foroverseeingactivitiesandrepresentationonmattersinrelationtostudent
accommodationwithinthe Universityandstudenthousingwithinthe community.
 Be responsible forleadingandpromotingstudent-runwelfare supportservices.
 Organise awarenesscampaignsandactivitiesincludingmentalhealth,sexual health,and
personal safety,whilstsupportingrelevantstudent-ledcampaignsandactivities.
 Oversee the Union’swelfare andadvice services,reportingonthese activitiestothe
Executive Committee.
 Oversee the representationof studentviewsandinterestsonEducationandWelfare,
includingbutnotlimitedto,academicdevelopmentandreform, studentadvice,personal
finance matters,disability,sexualityandrelatedmatters,tothe Universityonrelevant
UniversityCommittees.
 Liaise withUnionseniormanagementonthe provisionof advice andsupportservicesto
students
 Be responsible fordevelopingstudentsupportservicesinline withchangingstudentneeds.
