1. Opening scene analysis.
Saving Private RyanThe opening scene of Saving Private Ryan is very tense as all you can see is lots
of me squashed into small boats, some of these me are becoming sea sick and
beginning to throw up due to the harsh conditions of the weather, some others
are saying short prayer and kissing there rosemary beads so this creates
tensions to the viewer of what is about to happen, whilst all this is happening
you can here the shots of mortars being fired and a lot of gunshot, as you can
imagine this automatically sets the genre straight away to being an
actions/thriller war film.
Fast And Furious 6The opening scene of Fast and Furious 6 automatically shows you what kind of
film and genre its going to be, this is because it shows a lot of action such as high
speed car chases, high speed crashes and such other things as guns etc, this is a
clear indication that it is going to be a high obtained action film. In the opening
scene the words come onto the scene and back off again pretty quick so this also
gives another indication the film is going to be fast paced and will keep you on
the edge of your seat. The music also ties in very well to the clips that are show
because it is kind of a chilled out but yet fast paced gangster type song so this
also creates the mood and sets the genre almost straight away.
8 MileThe opening scene of 8 mile kind of shows you what the film is all about because
its shows you a stereotypical thug/gangster looking person being very tense and
bouncing around on his feet in what looks to be a very scruffy run down
bathroom, this is also more enhanced by the fact the music in the background is
rap that is also associated with gangsters and thugs due to the fact that in the
90’s there was a lot of bad blood between different rappers and record labels
such as Tupac and Biggie. So this gives a clear indication that it is going to be a
film that is based on gang warfare and rap rivalry.
