5. TOPROL-XL
Original TOPROL-XL® (metoprolol succinate) h
Once-daily TOPROL-XL is a beta-blocker
indicated for the treatment of hypertension,
alone or in combination with other
antihypertensives.1
Both TOPROL-XL and its authorized generic* use
a patented extended-release technology2
TOPROL-XL and its authorized generic,*
metoprolol succinate (distributed by Lannett
Company, Inc.), are available in extended-release
tablets with oral administration, providing 24-
hour hypertension treatment with 1 dose daily.1

metoprolol and immediate-release
atenolol over 24 hours.

7. Indication for TOPROL-XL
TOPROL-XL is indicated for the
treatment of hypertension, alone or in
combination with other
antihypertensives; the long-term
treatment of angina pectoris; and the
treatment of stable, symptomatic
(NYHA class II or III) heart failure of
ischemic, hypertensive, or
cardiomyopathic origin.

8. Contraindications of drug
TOPROL-XL should be used with caution in patients who have
anaphylactic reactions, bronchospastic disease, pheochromocytoma,
diabetes and hypoglycemia, hepatic impairment, thyrotoxicosis,
peripheral vascular disease, those who take calcium channel blockers
of the verapamil and diltiazem type, or those who are undergoing major
surgery.
Adverse reaction of drugs
