To whom it may concern;
When I was approached with the request to draft a letter of recommendation for Candy Kendrick, I must admit my
initial reaction was “why would she need such a thing?”. I had assumed her skills and assets were common
knowledge…
Candy was a new store coordinator under my responsibility during our time as teammates at MARS Music. I say
“my responsibility” loosely, as she was incredibly driven, self motivating, and required little, if any direction. Our
team worked very closely, both togetherand with the new teams of managers and associates at the more than 50
locations we opened in a little under 6 years. Needless to say, the deadline requirements of getting a 30,000-50,000
sq ft stores opened on time and under budget bordered on the ludicrous, but we exceeded every insane demand thrust
upon us! Not to mention the demands of travelling 200+ days a year!
Candy’s responsibilities were among the most challenging on our team. As our band and orchestra expert, she was
not only required to have an extensive knowledge of a wide range of products that were completely different from
each other (i.e brass instruments vs.violins), over 10,000 publication titles and media, and the accessories of all of
those products; she also trained and developed the lesson programs, rental programs and, most importantly, dealt
with and trained some of the most educated and difficult people to manage in the entire music industry.

2. Band and Orchestra Directors can be some of the most challenging people to deal with in any arena. They’re
used to giving direction, and are notorious for their inflexibility. Candy had an innate ability to make the people
she was responsible for feel comfortable and enthusiastic,made them understand that she valued their
experience yet also garnered the requisite “buy in” required for us to exceed our goals time and again.
She is a true professional, obviously handled a myriad of critically time sensitive tasks on a daily basis (and did so
exceptionally) and beyond that, is an absolute pleasure to be around. She would be a tremendous asset to any team
lucky enough to have her…
