Equality Of Women In The Military Research Paper
Barriers that once kept women from seeing combat are gone. Women are now able to opt into any military job they choose, this includes infantry, and
other higher risk positions. This brings more more equality to the military. However, not quite enough according to the Army and Marine Corps.
While women are being granted the equality they desire, and deserve, they are still not required to register with selective service. Males who are of
age must register for the draft soon after their 18th birthday. Women don't have to do this. Officers in the Army and Marines recently testified that it's
time women register as well. While some may disagree with requiring women to register, it's not possible to be truly equal without this requirement. It's

Create the gender equality society
Nowadays, gender equality is a popular topic in our society. It is not referring to the material "equal", but in preferably in the realm of spirit and
personality of understanding each other, and the mutual respect. The exact definition refers to that everyone in the world has the same right and
freedom to do what they want, bear the same obligation and will not be treated unequally. People across the world are all yearning for an equal
society. However, in the contemporary world, gender bias or even sexism still exists in many occasions. In Australia, this phenomenon still exists
largely. Gloria Steinem states that the world could be equal, which is everyone can treat the "gender" to be neutral when there is no difference between
genders. My personal opinion of the statement is that I agree with Gloria Steinem's argument because one of the most influential reasons that cause
sexism is the unequal treatment of different genders in today's society. Sexism for example, is a serious branch of gender inequality, it has been studied
and researched that women have more difficulties than men in finding jobs, students are supposed to go to the single–sex school, and men are not
allowed to show their inner failures in some situations. Imagine if we remove the barriers between males and females, there will be no gaps between
people and everyone will be treated equal. That is what we can do to make a more gender equality society.
As we know, gender

A Rhetorical Analysis Of Gender Equality Essay
A Rhetorical Analysis of Gender Equality
Gender Equality is a big issue throughout the world, but what exactly is it? Well to answer that, it is the view that everyone should receive equal
treatment and not be discriminated against based on gender. Today, most women are getting treated differently compared to men. Whether it is based
on pay gap, power, or strength the problem comes up. Men think they are stronger and better than women and this upsets women because it makes
them feel like they don't have a place in this world. This is where feminism comes into place. I chose this topic because I can relate to it more than the
racial option, although now it could be about the same.
In this analysis paper, I will be discussing the issue of gender equality that is being argues by two different authors. There are two different articles
that I will be using, where they both contradict each other, and one is highly stronger than other because of their credibility. "Moving beyond pain"
by Bell Hooks uses different sources compared to "Gender Equality is a Myth" by BeyoncГ© Knowles. The authors use different credible techniques
to state a stronger argument, but also in some they use rhetorical appeals in the same way. Both of them show their knowledge on the topic of gender
equality, except one uses more of a source that could be true, unlike the other one, it all depends on how a person praises the author.
As most of us know, BeyoncГ© Knowles–Carter is a well–known artist. She

Reflection On Gender Inequality
Upon entering this class, I thought that I'd already known about most of the different social problems prevalent in society today. Truthfully speaking,
I was hoping to get an easy A out of the course. Surprisingly, I realized the great depth of the social ills covered in the chapters and immediately knew
that I was ignorant of a lot of information. First, I had to understand what a social problem actually was and what constituted as one. After
understanding that concept, my eyes suddenly opened and I soon developed a deep intrinsic motivation to educate myself on the many social issues of
society. One chapter in particular that attained my full interest was on the topic of gender inequality. I remember hearing students, particularly females,
passionately expressing their opinions on gender inequality and suddenly realized its importance and impact on society. Prior to this course, I had
obtained very vague knowledge on what it meant to be a man and woman in society. While I was certainly aware of gender inequality, most of what I'd
known had just come from general observation. Growing up as an African American male in the south, I saw some of the many sex–based advantages
and disadvantages in the black community. I saw how African American men more opportunities to be successful because they excelled in a particular
area: athletics. While my father instilled in me the importance of education, he also preached how I also had the alternative of becoming a successful

Reflection On Gender Equality
Ever since I could remember, women have always been marginalized from society and more specifically women have been degraded when it came
in comparison to men. It's unfortunate and bickering that this still goes on today, people don't understand and aren't willing to accept the role of a
women and how strong and capable they are to do anything a man can do. In class, we have learned and covered a various amount of topics and I
believe that gender inequality is a very interesting topic that has captivated my mind. Primarily because I am a women of color, already being a woman
is enough of a disadvantage, but to even add woman of color really ties the knot of my luck. The color of my skin and gender can dictate whether I
get the job or not, whether I get a promotion or not, whether I get paid more or less, whether I get accused or attacked, etc. The list is endless and
women are constantly being judged for their actions and when they do decide to stand up and fight back, they're viewed as a joke. I am tired of this
inequality and am hoping someday all women get the same treatment as men, not just white women but all women. Women are just as deserving to
pursue their goals and aspirations as any man, so I believe gender equality is a huge goal that we need to aim towards, not only for the benefit of
women but for the benefit of everyone. Once people learn to open the doors for women and more importantly women of color, things will start to
change in a positive form. There

What Is Gender Inequality Essay
The topic that I chose is Gender Inequality. Gender inequality refers to unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals based on their gender. It is also
a form of discrimination. The issue of gender inequality has been publicly reverberating through society for decades. Gender comes into play along
with a number of different aspects such as sex, gender and gender roles. Gender inequality as a discrimination comes with a number of aspects that
mostly comes down to the unfavorable circumstances that mostly applies to women. And though women are usually the victims for such
discrimination, there are also times when men becomes the victims but most cases are usually not strongly acknowledged in public. One of the factors
affected by gender inequality are job opportunities that applies to both male and...show more content...
One cause of gender inequality is that men and women was influence by historical and structural power imbalances around the world. Another part
of gender inequality within job opportunities between men and women are their rights inside their workplace or their work environment. Men and
women have equal rights when working in the same company. However, there are certain differences that caters to a variety of reasons such as job
position, job description, and the work environment of the organization. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a groundbreaking piece of legislation that
prohibited employers from making hiring, firing, salary and promotion decisions based on gender. Another is, workers who have the same job title,
perform the job with the same skill level and are similarly productive should not be paid in different wages simply because one is a man and one is a
woman. Despite these impressive results, gender inequality persists in economic opportunities and political

Gender Equality Essay
In today's world, when you look around there are so many different types of people. Different races, different backgrounds, and also different
stories. We live in a world of a diverse group of people. Some would think living in such a diverse world we would form a common ground and
maybe unite together to be "equal" but that is far from true. No I'm not talking about the inequality of people based off of race or background, the
grouping of sex is the issue here. From the beginning of time till now, cultural practices have formed these boundaries. There has always been a
separation of males and females and the way they are raised and taught even to what occupations they take on. Over time these became a set of gender
boundaries. I believe...show more content...
Lorber focuses on the biological differences between male and female. She goes into detail about how women are separated or treated differently
from men just because of a biological difference. In comparison, Tannen discusses the behavior and language of males and females in a classroom
setting, discussing how males take on different types of questions and public speaking differently than females. She discusses how males and females
learn to participate in different ways. Between the two authors, there is one point that serves for the basis of my argument and that would be the
inequality that both genders face due to these gender boundaries. For example, in Lorber's essay, she formulates a issues called the Bathroom
Problem. This is a perfect example of how society tries to make both sexes equal when in reality, they are not. In this Bathroom Problem, we give both
males and females the same amount of bathroom facilities. But as Lorber states on page 732, "[A]lthough an equal number of bathrooms seems fair,
equality would mean more women's bathrooms or allowing women to use men's bathrooms for a certain amount of time." (732). If you want both sexes
to be equal, then help both sexes out by giving them the supplies or facilities that they need. This point also ties into Tannen's argument about how both
male and female students participate

Reflection On Gender Inequality
As I said before, I believe inequality, power, and oppression share a connection with each other. However, I would say I feel more of a connection
with inequality and oppression because it has impacted my life beyond just being a women. I would define inequality has an unequal distribution of
rights in the form of discrimination. Because telling me I can't do something because I'm a girl is discriminating against my gender. In the same way, I
believe that oppression means the power of control mentally and emotionally. If you're always going to tell me this is right and this is wrong, I
wouldn't be able to have my own beliefs because it's been decided for me. I want to about inequality because I feel like people take the idea of gender
inequality has a light topic, that all they think about is the wage gap when it's more than that. Its about women being prevented from doing things
just because of their appearance for into apparent reason. For example, in the culture that I'm being raised in women are not allowed to have male
friends, it is frown upon. It's taken so seriously that all my cousins did was go out with a boy to study that her Dad made her drop out of school
and get married to a thirty year old. Such brutal consequences for a minor thing. And there's no reason why, the only reason is just because you're a
girl. I'll give you another example, I'm a very outgoing person, so I received a lot of invites to social events, but I never once went to any of them
because I wasn't allowed to. My brother was allowed to go to friends' houses and have sleepovers, but I wasn't because girls don't do that or I'll get
hurt from my friends brother. It sucks because I lost a lot of friends and they weren't very understanding about it, I can renumber my Mom
screaming at my friends on the phone because she wouldn't let me attend a birthday party, it was that bad. In the same way, I want to bring up a
quote from an article that ties into this. Lorber" What men do is usually valued more highly than what women do because men do it, even when
their activities are the same" ( Lorber , 1994 p. 69). This is probably the highlight of my life because whatever I did was never good enough for either
of my parents. I got good

Women 's Rights And Gender Equality Essay
All men and women were created equal. However, this obvious truth is not universally shared. Fortunately, there is a very real fight for gender equality
that we are currently engaged in, and a participant in that fight that holds a fundamental role are non–governmental organizations (NGOs). NGOs exist
as private, voluntary organizations that function without government restriction and bias because they are not for profit and not funded by the
government. These organizations coordinate strategies in order to "perform a variety of services and humanitarian functions, bring citizen concerns to
governments, advocate and monitor policies and encourage political participation through provision of information." These core characteristics of
NGOs meld and cooperate to advocate for women's rights and gender equality. These organizations are actually quite effective in achieving their
missions of promoting women's rights and gender equality. Women's rights NGOs led the General Assembly to adopt the Declaration on the
Elimination of All Forms of Violence Against Women. Women's rights NGOs advocate for the idea that women's rights are included inhuman rights. In
Nicholas D. Kristof 's and Sheryl WuDunn's bestselling novel, Half the Sky, readers are introduced to the many plights that women suffer from in
countries all over the world. Sex trafficking, forced prostitution leading to the abuse of women and young girls, AIDS, and other sexually transmitted
diseases are all very real

Gender Equality in Today's Workforce
In today's business environment, women get paid on average 12–30% less than men. This affects their ways of living and retirement options. To this
day, women still have less rights when it comes to workforce in many Asian and European countries. Men are the preferredgender because they are
perceived to be smarter. In many countries, women are limited on the amount of education they can receive. Women are not treated fairly in the
workforce because it harder for them to get jobs, they get paid less than men, and men are thought to be smarter than women.
It is very difficult for women to get jobs compared to men. Men are the preferred choice of employment over women in many situations ("Chapter 4").
Even when the job might be more suited for a female, men are still preferred in some places. Currently the only country to not permit women to drive
is Saudi Arabia. This makes it very hard for those women to get jobs. Although it is harder, women are trying very hard and are joining the workforce
in huge numbers. These women are then forced to share the money they have earned with their husbands. Saudi women are making a statement but
saying that a woman that is working should get to spend what she has earned ("Movement Grows In"). This shows that women are making a difference
and standing up for what they believe should happen in the workforce. Although, Saudi Arabia isn't the only country that is starting to allow women to

Essay On Gender Equality
We cannot achieve gender equality until we end gendered discrimination. Great strides have been made in the last century to even the playing field;
for instance, women are no longer required to have their husbands sign a form that allows them to have a credit card, and women are beginning to
assume a dominant presence in careers that they legally were not allowed to have in the very recent past. However at a very basic level America's
legal system supports a type of discrimination that seems trivial on the surface but, at its core, represents a fundamental societal flaw that emboldens
discrimination against women. Simply put, until women are legally and safely allowed to be topless anywhere a man can be topless, we cannot
achieve true gender equality. The history of women being forced to cover arbitrary parts of their bodies to adhere to modesty laws is rooted in the
Victorian Age. Horrified by the erotic exhibitionism and sexual lawlessness of their Georgian parents, Victorians collectively reshaped society into a
passionless assembly of citizens painfully concerned with adhering to strict morality and modesty. A shift in women's fashion from loose, low–cut,
flowing gowns to high collared, long sleeved dresses was the most visual change in the shift of values (Boyd). Women's bodies, once glorified and
revered, were seen as scandalous and inherently impure. By the late nineteenth century contention over female sexuality through the burgeoning yet

Examples Of Gender Equality In The Workplace
Workplace gender equality
"Women cannot be as effective as men" is often a statement that has been used in defense by those found guilty of undermining women. Yet, women
have grown to take up positions of leadership that they were feared to not being able to handle. Women can be just as hard working as men and even
surpass when it comes to performance in any given position. Men, on the other hand, have always had the assumption of being naturally gifted at
anything they do, sometimes without even trying: that is, however, changing sighting the changes that have been taking place in the world. A
paramount example can be seen in politics, with women like Hilary Clinton, running for presidential office. There are ongoing debates, nevertheless,
that women almost in all occasions must do something extra in order to achieve same results as would men without breaking a sweat. This can be
seen by the appraisal of women in the workplace, which has in line pushed men to be the ones doing an additional entail to achieve given results. A
work place should not be run by a specific gender, neither should a given gender be able to say that they perform more or gave more, it should be an
environment characterized by equality. This paper purposes to address the question whether gender equality exists at the workplace or not.
Foundation of my thesis is the article, GENDER EQUALITY IN THE WORKPLACE: Moving from Practices to Strategy. The article has been written

Persuasive Essay On Gender Equality
Starting back in 1848, Women have been taking a stand against inequality. When the Women's Rights Movement began, there was little to no
equality when it came to gender. Women were forced to comply to gender roles by taking care of the household and their husbands instead of
earning a degree and making a living. As the decades have gone by, women and men have become more equal in numerous aspects of
life.Nonetheless, females are still battling the fight for equal pay, one's own body decisions, and the blame for sexual assault. To begin, the United
States Women's Soccer team won the World Cup in 2015. This was a monumental moment for women and soccer players in the country. While
looking at the picture of the US Women's Soccer team celebrating, viewers can see the excitement and confidence on their faces. However, although
the team did an exceptional and were paid very well, they still were not being paid as much as the United States Men's Soccer team makes. When the
USA Women's Soccer Team won the World Cup, they received an additional pay of two million dollars. That seems like a large quantity, until one
realizes that, "women earned four times less than the men while performing demonstrably better"(pbs.org). Even though the men's team has not passed
the quarterfinals in the modern era, they still have an overall profit of seventy–five million dollars a year. To this day jobs around the world offer
different salaries for men than they do women. It is a constant struggle and weight on female's shoulders when applying for a male dominated job.
Whether it be sports, business, law, etc; women are more likely to get paid less even if they are just as good, or better at the job. The women and
men soccer team's are just one prime example of the inequality and struggles women still face currently. When the Women's Rights Movement ended,
people around the country believed that it would be the end of discrimination against women. It was believed that women would finally achieve the
same opportunities men do and would have the right to decide decision what to do with their own bodies. But, as shown in picture #2, even now in
2017, women are still having to protest against what should be one's personal decision. The

Gender Inequality Essay
This paper will analyse gender inequality, specifically focusing on the 'gender wage gap' in Australia. Over the past three decades, there has been clear
policy developments that focus on women involvement in the economy and the workplace. In particularly, the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012, is
the key legislation in place that aims to promote and improve gender equality within employment, including the issue of equal remuneration between
women and men. Yet, as of 2017, statistics show that a gender wage gap is apparent, as there is a 15.3% difference between fulltime men and women
earnings (Workplace Gender Equality Agency, 2017, p. 1). Wage inequality is both a social exclusion and adiscrimination on the basis of gender, which
are both concepts that are aimed to be avoided by presiding governments, however it is still occurring. From this analysis, it will be argued that the
equality must end, and that employers should pay men and women the same salary for the same job. Firstly, a brief history will be provided, then
relevant government policies will be discussed, and subsequently responses to these policies will be shared. The discussion part of this paper aims to
view this social policy issue through the lenses of values and ideology, which will look at both a for and against intervention viewpoint with wage
equality. However, concludingly equal opportunity is an objective of social policy which is why the wage gap in Australia must end.

Gender Differences And Gender Equality
Throughout history, gender differences and gender equality have been issues that have faced many social, and unjustifiable conflicts. Women most
importantly pay the consequences for wanting equality and justice. Since the beginning of time, women were perceived to be the submissive role in a
household, and in the workplace. Fighting for their equal rights women and men are unified to get the same results, to be treated the way they deserve,
and to be able to think freely about what they stand for. One question still remains, and that is to what end have man and women fought for gender
inequality?
Gender and inequality is an issue that continues to strive in the world's population. Women have been fighting for centuries to be treated fairly in not
only a social specter, but an economic one as well. The only way to move on and keep fighting is to understand what has happened in the past to lead
to this argument. Kimberly Gauderman has claimed that the Audencia of Quinto is an ideal site for studying the position of women in 17th century
Spanish America in her book "Women 's Lives in Colonial Quinto" she begins by telling the stories of two women named Maria, and Ventura. Both
women lived in Quinto, but only one got the justice she deserved. Both women live separately from their husbands because of abuse. The only
difference was that Maria never got the help she needed from the authorities, but Ventura 's husband was killed by police officers that were trying

What Are The Barriers Of Gender Equality
Today, the world is not doing as well as people would like: gender equality has yet to be achieved, climate change is putting millions at risk,
two–hundred million people are unemployed, and people are more stressed than ever. Trying to solve these world challenges, people are working
more and more hours, yet little progress is being made. The solution is rather simple: work less.
Women around the world are under–represented in the workforce, making up less than 20% of CEO positions, and, in America, fewer than 20% of
Congressional positions are filled by women. Reasons for this lack of representation may be due to prejudice, but it is important to recognize that
women are viewed as the primary child caregiver in most families. For this reason, many women take off work for several months after childbirth
and are often thwarted from higher positions because they take leave. If both males and females had shorter work weeks, then both genders would
be able to devote more time to child care, allowing women to continue to work sooner and progress in their fields. In addition, studies have shown
that men who take paternity leave are more devoted to their families and are 50% more likely to help their wives with domestic labor, such as
cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Thus, the shorter work week would lead to both equal representation in the work place and at home, subsequently,
breaking the barriers of gender inequality.
Shorter work weeks will not only benefit parents, but they

Research Proposal : Gender Equality
Research Proposal: Gender Equality in America
For my research project, I would like to show the evolution of gender equality that has occurred in American society in the workplace. The disparity
of status and privileges between men and women has existed since the end of the World War II. Although America has made progress concerning the
acceptance of social issues such as same sex relationship and marriage, people are still unwilling to acknowledge that gender inequality is still rampant
among our society. Gender equality hasn't been achieved yet, particularly in corporate America that has an insignificant number of women in the
upper ranks; fewer women occupy a post of chief executive officer, chief financial officer, or any other leading positions. For my research question
I will be asking: "How is America making progress on gender equity?" Fundamentally, I believe that women are still misrepresented, and are still
facing many challenges in the workplace, especially in the business world. The gender stereotypes play a considerable role in the way the society sees
women as leaders. However, it will be judicious to consider the small but noticeable changes that have been made over the past years concerning
gender equality in the American workplace.
The research on the evolution of gender equality is related to my success, because as a women business major, it is my responsibility to be aware of
the issues women face in the business world, dominated by men.

Gender Equity
Are male students and female student's receiving the same opportunities when it comes to Math and Science in the schools? I don't believe they are.
This is why gender equity is a major problem facing our schools today. Many girls are having very negative attitudes towards Math and Science.
Through doing research on this topic I found out why.
In the article How Research Helps Address Gender Equity, a very shocking and eye opening thing was written. I learned that children as young as
kindergarten already have formed set stereotypes about Science and Math. The boys in the class wanted to and believed that they could be Scientist
while the girls in the class did not. They perceived being a...show more content...
He also seemed to talk down to the girls. My self–esteem in Math wasn't good going into this course and when I came out of it, it only became worse. I
was terrified of
Math. I don't think my Math teacher or other teachers intentionally call on boys and encourage them more but it ends up happening anyway. Another
problem that girls are faced with is they aren't getting the same opportunities and encouragement that boys receive in lab experiments. All of these
things play a big factor in girls having low self–esteem when it comes to Math and Science.
When doing my research on gender equity, I found a lot of good steps taken to improve the equality of boys and girls in school. One of the first
things that needs to be done is a teacher assessment. The article Fair and Square, says that the teacher should have a friend or colleague come into
the class to do the assessment. The observer would write a 'b' if the teacher asked a boy the question and a 'g' if the teacher asked the girl the
question. The observer would also "make a brief notation of the type of reaction you make to each child, whether it's praise, criticism, remediation, or
acceptance"(Sadker , Sadker ,
Stulberg, 2001 ). I think this assessment is a good idea. However, I would think if the teacher knew that he/she was being assessed they would be
more conscience of calling on both boys and girls the same

The Importance Of Gender Equality
Ever since the beginning of time, women have been fighting endlessly to be treated equally and fairly, whether it's in their personal life, their
business careers, or their social encounters. From the day in which women are born, they are raised and treated differently compared to men. Girls
are expected to be sensitive and sweet, meanwhile boys are usually more tough, and expected to mature a bit faster. Girls are protected more in
comparison to boys and as they grow, the way society treats each gender stands out more. Women are limited to certain professions because they are not
men, and in situations where they can actually work the same jobs, they are paid much less. Throughout time, women all over the world continue to be
sexualized and judged based on their personal opinions. While many nations have slowly begun to embrace women's equal rights, Islam continues to
oppress women by limiting their self–expression, using their religious misconceptions to abuse and control them as a whole, and constantly
maintaining old cultural traditions that prevent freedom and equality for women.
As formerly stated, women's rights across the world are slowly increasing while they remain the same or even worse in some parts of the world. In
America, women can vote, be a part of Congress, choose whatever career they want to study, live wherever they please, marry whoever they love, and
much more. In Europe, gender equality is one of the core values in their initial founding treaties, and

Equality Of Women In The Military Research Paper

  • 1. Equality Of Women In The Military Research Paper Barriers that once kept women from seeing combat are gone. Women are now able to opt into any military job they choose, this includes infantry, and other higher risk positions. This brings more more equality to the military. However, not quite enough according to the Army and Marine Corps. While women are being granted the equality they desire, and deserve, they are still not required to register with selective service. Males who are of age must register for the draft soon after their 18th birthday. Women don't have to do this. Officers in the Army and Marines recently testified that it's time women register as well. While some may disagree with requiring women to register, it's not possible to be truly equal without this requirement. It's Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay On Gender Equality Create the gender equality society Nowadays, gender equality is a popular topic in our society. It is not referring to the material "equal", but in preferably in the realm of spirit and personality of understanding each other, and the mutual respect. The exact definition refers to that everyone in the world has the same right and freedom to do what they want, bear the same obligation and will not be treated unequally. People across the world are all yearning for an equal society. However, in the contemporary world, gender bias or even sexism still exists in many occasions. In Australia, this phenomenon still exists largely. Gloria Steinem states that the world could be equal, which is everyone can treat the "gender" to be neutral when there is no difference between genders. My personal opinion of the statement is that I agree with Gloria Steinem's argument because one of the most influential reasons that cause sexism is the unequal treatment of different genders in today's society. Sexism for example, is a serious branch of gender inequality, it has been studied and researched that women have more difficulties than men in finding jobs, students are supposed to go to the single–sex school, and men are not allowed to show their inner failures in some situations. Imagine if we remove the barriers between males and females, there will be no gaps between people and everyone will be treated equal. That is what we can do to make a more gender equality society. As we know, gender Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. A Rhetorical Analysis Of Gender Equality Essay A Rhetorical Analysis of Gender Equality Gender Equality is a big issue throughout the world, but what exactly is it? Well to answer that, it is the view that everyone should receive equal treatment and not be discriminated against based on gender. Today, most women are getting treated differently compared to men. Whether it is based on pay gap, power, or strength the problem comes up. Men think they are stronger and better than women and this upsets women because it makes them feel like they don't have a place in this world. This is where feminism comes into place. I chose this topic because I can relate to it more than the racial option, although now it could be about the same. In this analysis paper, I will be discussing the issue of gender equality that is being argues by two different authors. There are two different articles that I will be using, where they both contradict each other, and one is highly stronger than other because of their credibility. "Moving beyond pain" by Bell Hooks uses different sources compared to "Gender Equality is a Myth" by BeyoncГ© Knowles. The authors use different credible techniques to state a stronger argument, but also in some they use rhetorical appeals in the same way. Both of them show their knowledge on the topic of gender equality, except one uses more of a source that could be true, unlike the other one, it all depends on how a person praises the author. As most of us know, BeyoncГ© Knowles–Carter is a well–known artist. She Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Reflection On Gender Inequality Upon entering this class, I thought that I'd already known about most of the different social problems prevalent in society today. Truthfully speaking, I was hoping to get an easy A out of the course. Surprisingly, I realized the great depth of the social ills covered in the chapters and immediately knew that I was ignorant of a lot of information. First, I had to understand what a social problem actually was and what constituted as one. After understanding that concept, my eyes suddenly opened and I soon developed a deep intrinsic motivation to educate myself on the many social issues of society. One chapter in particular that attained my full interest was on the topic of gender inequality. I remember hearing students, particularly females, passionately expressing their opinions on gender inequality and suddenly realized its importance and impact on society. Prior to this course, I had obtained very vague knowledge on what it meant to be a man and woman in society. While I was certainly aware of gender inequality, most of what I'd known had just come from general observation. Growing up as an African American male in the south, I saw some of the many sex–based advantages and disadvantages in the black community. I saw how African American men more opportunities to be successful because they excelled in a particular area: athletics. While my father instilled in me the importance of education, he also preached how I also had the alternative of becoming a successful athlete Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. Reflection On Gender Equality Ever since I could remember, women have always been marginalized from society and more specifically women have been degraded when it came in comparison to men. It's unfortunate and bickering that this still goes on today, people don't understand and aren't willing to accept the role of a women and how strong and capable they are to do anything a man can do. In class, we have learned and covered a various amount of topics and I believe that gender inequality is a very interesting topic that has captivated my mind. Primarily because I am a women of color, already being a woman is enough of a disadvantage, but to even add woman of color really ties the knot of my luck. The color of my skin and gender can dictate whether I get the job or not, whether I get a promotion or not, whether I get paid more or less, whether I get accused or attacked, etc. The list is endless and women are constantly being judged for their actions and when they do decide to stand up and fight back, they're viewed as a joke. I am tired of this inequality and am hoping someday all women get the same treatment as men, not just white women but all women. Women are just as deserving to pursue their goals and aspirations as any man, so I believe gender equality is a huge goal that we need to aim towards, not only for the benefit of women but for the benefit of everyone. Once people learn to open the doors for women and more importantly women of color, things will start to change in a positive form. There Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 6. What Is Gender Inequality Essay The topic that I chose is Gender Inequality. Gender inequality refers to unequal treatment or perceptions of individuals based on their gender. It is also a form of discrimination. The issue of gender inequality has been publicly reverberating through society for decades. Gender comes into play along with a number of different aspects such as sex, gender and gender roles. Gender inequality as a discrimination comes with a number of aspects that mostly comes down to the unfavorable circumstances that mostly applies to women. And though women are usually the victims for such discrimination, there are also times when men becomes the victims but most cases are usually not strongly acknowledged in public. One of the factors affected by gender inequality are job opportunities that applies to both male and...show more content... One cause of gender inequality is that men and women was influence by historical and structural power imbalances around the world. Another part of gender inequality within job opportunities between men and women are their rights inside their workplace or their work environment. Men and women have equal rights when working in the same company. However, there are certain differences that caters to a variety of reasons such as job position, job description, and the work environment of the organization. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was a groundbreaking piece of legislation that prohibited employers from making hiring, firing, salary and promotion decisions based on gender. Another is, workers who have the same job title, perform the job with the same skill level and are similarly productive should not be paid in different wages simply because one is a man and one is a woman. Despite these impressive results, gender inequality persists in economic opportunities and political Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. Gender Equality Essay In today's world, when you look around there are so many different types of people. Different races, different backgrounds, and also different stories. We live in a world of a diverse group of people. Some would think living in such a diverse world we would form a common ground and maybe unite together to be "equal" but that is far from true. No I'm not talking about the inequality of people based off of race or background, the grouping of sex is the issue here. From the beginning of time till now, cultural practices have formed these boundaries. There has always been a separation of males and females and the way they are raised and taught even to what occupations they take on. Over time these became a set of gender boundaries. I believe...show more content... Lorber focuses on the biological differences between male and female. She goes into detail about how women are separated or treated differently from men just because of a biological difference. In comparison, Tannen discusses the behavior and language of males and females in a classroom setting, discussing how males take on different types of questions and public speaking differently than females. She discusses how males and females learn to participate in different ways. Between the two authors, there is one point that serves for the basis of my argument and that would be the inequality that both genders face due to these gender boundaries. For example, in Lorber's essay, she formulates a issues called the Bathroom Problem. This is a perfect example of how society tries to make both sexes equal when in reality, they are not. In this Bathroom Problem, we give both males and females the same amount of bathroom facilities. But as Lorber states on page 732, "[A]lthough an equal number of bathrooms seems fair, equality would mean more women's bathrooms or allowing women to use men's bathrooms for a certain amount of time." (732). If you want both sexes to be equal, then help both sexes out by giving them the supplies or facilities that they need. This point also ties into Tannen's argument about how both male and female students participate Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Reflection On Gender Inequality As I said before, I believe inequality, power, and oppression share a connection with each other. However, I would say I feel more of a connection with inequality and oppression because it has impacted my life beyond just being a women. I would define inequality has an unequal distribution of rights in the form of discrimination. Because telling me I can't do something because I'm a girl is discriminating against my gender. In the same way, I believe that oppression means the power of control mentally and emotionally. If you're always going to tell me this is right and this is wrong, I wouldn't be able to have my own beliefs because it's been decided for me. I want to about inequality because I feel like people take the idea of gender inequality has a light topic, that all they think about is the wage gap when it's more than that. Its about women being prevented from doing things just because of their appearance for into apparent reason. For example, in the culture that I'm being raised in women are not allowed to have male friends, it is frown upon. It's taken so seriously that all my cousins did was go out with a boy to study that her Dad made her drop out of school and get married to a thirty year old. Such brutal consequences for a minor thing. And there's no reason why, the only reason is just because you're a girl. I'll give you another example, I'm a very outgoing person, so I received a lot of invites to social events, but I never once went to any of them because I wasn't allowed to. My brother was allowed to go to friends' houses and have sleepovers, but I wasn't because girls don't do that or I'll get hurt from my friends brother. It sucks because I lost a lot of friends and they weren't very understanding about it, I can renumber my Mom screaming at my friends on the phone because she wouldn't let me attend a birthday party, it was that bad. In the same way, I want to bring up a quote from an article that ties into this. Lorber" What men do is usually valued more highly than what women do because men do it, even when their activities are the same" ( Lorber , 1994 p. 69). This is probably the highlight of my life because whatever I did was never good enough for either of my parents. I got good Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. Women 's Rights And Gender Equality Essay All men and women were created equal. However, this obvious truth is not universally shared. Fortunately, there is a very real fight for gender equality that we are currently engaged in, and a participant in that fight that holds a fundamental role are non–governmental organizations (NGOs). NGOs exist as private, voluntary organizations that function without government restriction and bias because they are not for profit and not funded by the government. These organizations coordinate strategies in order to "perform a variety of services and humanitarian functions, bring citizen concerns to governments, advocate and monitor policies and encourage political participation through provision of information." These core characteristics of NGOs meld and cooperate to advocate for women's rights and gender equality. These organizations are actually quite effective in achieving their missions of promoting women's rights and gender equality. Women's rights NGOs led the General Assembly to adopt the Declaration on the Elimination of All Forms of Violence Against Women. Women's rights NGOs advocate for the idea that women's rights are included inhuman rights. In Nicholas D. Kristof 's and Sheryl WuDunn's bestselling novel, Half the Sky, readers are introduced to the many plights that women suffer from in countries all over the world. Sex trafficking, forced prostitution leading to the abuse of women and young girls, AIDS, and other sexually transmitted diseases are all very real Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Gender Equality Essay Gender Equality in Today's Workforce In today's business environment, women get paid on average 12–30% less than men. This affects their ways of living and retirement options. To this day, women still have less rights when it comes to workforce in many Asian and European countries. Men are the preferredgender because they are perceived to be smarter. In many countries, women are limited on the amount of education they can receive. Women are not treated fairly in the workforce because it harder for them to get jobs, they get paid less than men, and men are thought to be smarter than women. It is very difficult for women to get jobs compared to men. Men are the preferred choice of employment over women in many situations ("Chapter 4"). Even when the job might be more suited for a female, men are still preferred in some places. Currently the only country to not permit women to drive is Saudi Arabia. This makes it very hard for those women to get jobs. Although it is harder, women are trying very hard and are joining the workforce in huge numbers. These women are then forced to share the money they have earned with their husbands. Saudi women are making a statement but saying that a woman that is working should get to spend what she has earned ("Movement Grows In"). This shows that women are making a difference and standing up for what they believe should happen in the workforce. Although, Saudi Arabia isn't the only country that is starting to allow women to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Essay On Gender Equality We cannot achieve gender equality until we end gendered discrimination. Great strides have been made in the last century to even the playing field; for instance, women are no longer required to have their husbands sign a form that allows them to have a credit card, and women are beginning to assume a dominant presence in careers that they legally were not allowed to have in the very recent past. However at a very basic level America's legal system supports a type of discrimination that seems trivial on the surface but, at its core, represents a fundamental societal flaw that emboldens discrimination against women. Simply put, until women are legally and safely allowed to be topless anywhere a man can be topless, we cannot achieve true gender equality. The history of women being forced to cover arbitrary parts of their bodies to adhere to modesty laws is rooted in the Victorian Age. Horrified by the erotic exhibitionism and sexual lawlessness of their Georgian parents, Victorians collectively reshaped society into a passionless assembly of citizens painfully concerned with adhering to strict morality and modesty. A shift in women's fashion from loose, low–cut, flowing gowns to high collared, long sleeved dresses was the most visual change in the shift of values (Boyd). Women's bodies, once glorified and revered, were seen as scandalous and inherently impure. By the late nineteenth century contention over female sexuality through the burgeoning yet highly influential Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Examples Of Gender Equality In The Workplace Workplace gender equality "Women cannot be as effective as men" is often a statement that has been used in defense by those found guilty of undermining women. Yet, women have grown to take up positions of leadership that they were feared to not being able to handle. Women can be just as hard working as men and even surpass when it comes to performance in any given position. Men, on the other hand, have always had the assumption of being naturally gifted at anything they do, sometimes without even trying: that is, however, changing sighting the changes that have been taking place in the world. A paramount example can be seen in politics, with women like Hilary Clinton, running for presidential office. There are ongoing debates, nevertheless, that women almost in all occasions must do something extra in order to achieve same results as would men without breaking a sweat. This can be seen by the appraisal of women in the workplace, which has in line pushed men to be the ones doing an additional entail to achieve given results. A work place should not be run by a specific gender, neither should a given gender be able to say that they perform more or gave more, it should be an environment characterized by equality. This paper purposes to address the question whether gender equality exists at the workplace or not. Foundation of my thesis is the article, GENDER EQUALITY IN THE WORKPLACE: Moving from Practices to Strategy. The article has been written by three authors namely Towns, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. Persuasive Essay On Gender Equality Starting back in 1848, Women have been taking a stand against inequality. When the Women's Rights Movement began, there was little to no equality when it came to gender. Women were forced to comply to gender roles by taking care of the household and their husbands instead of earning a degree and making a living. As the decades have gone by, women and men have become more equal in numerous aspects of life.Nonetheless, females are still battling the fight for equal pay, one's own body decisions, and the blame for sexual assault. To begin, the United States Women's Soccer team won the World Cup in 2015. This was a monumental moment for women and soccer players in the country. While looking at the picture of the US Women's Soccer team celebrating, viewers can see the excitement and confidence on their faces. However, although the team did an exceptional and were paid very well, they still were not being paid as much as the United States Men's Soccer team makes. When the USA Women's Soccer Team won the World Cup, they received an additional pay of two million dollars. That seems like a large quantity, until one realizes that, "women earned four times less than the men while performing demonstrably better"(pbs.org). Even though the men's team has not passed the quarterfinals in the modern era, they still have an overall profit of seventy–five million dollars a year. To this day jobs around the world offer different salaries for men than they do women. It is a constant struggle and weight on female's shoulders when applying for a male dominated job. Whether it be sports, business, law, etc; women are more likely to get paid less even if they are just as good, or better at the job. The women and men soccer team's are just one prime example of the inequality and struggles women still face currently. When the Women's Rights Movement ended, people around the country believed that it would be the end of discrimination against women. It was believed that women would finally achieve the same opportunities men do and would have the right to decide decision what to do with their own bodies. But, as shown in picture #2, even now in 2017, women are still having to protest against what should be one's personal decision. The Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Gender Inequality Essay This paper will analyse gender inequality, specifically focusing on the 'gender wage gap' in Australia. Over the past three decades, there has been clear policy developments that focus on women involvement in the economy and the workplace. In particularly, the Workplace Gender Equality Act 2012, is the key legislation in place that aims to promote and improve gender equality within employment, including the issue of equal remuneration between women and men. Yet, as of 2017, statistics show that a gender wage gap is apparent, as there is a 15.3% difference between fulltime men and women earnings (Workplace Gender Equality Agency, 2017, p. 1). Wage inequality is both a social exclusion and adiscrimination on the basis of gender, which are both concepts that are aimed to be avoided by presiding governments, however it is still occurring. From this analysis, it will be argued that the equality must end, and that employers should pay men and women the same salary for the same job. Firstly, a brief history will be provided, then relevant government policies will be discussed, and subsequently responses to these policies will be shared. The discussion part of this paper aims to view this social policy issue through the lenses of values and ideology, which will look at both a for and against intervention viewpoint with wage equality. However, concludingly equal opportunity is an objective of social policy which is why the wage gap in Australia must end. Women and men are equally Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Gender Differences And Gender Equality Throughout history, gender differences and gender equality have been issues that have faced many social, and unjustifiable conflicts. Women most importantly pay the consequences for wanting equality and justice. Since the beginning of time, women were perceived to be the submissive role in a household, and in the workplace. Fighting for their equal rights women and men are unified to get the same results, to be treated the way they deserve, and to be able to think freely about what they stand for. One question still remains, and that is to what end have man and women fought for gender inequality? Gender and inequality is an issue that continues to strive in the world's population. Women have been fighting for centuries to be treated fairly in not only a social specter, but an economic one as well. The only way to move on and keep fighting is to understand what has happened in the past to lead to this argument. Kimberly Gauderman has claimed that the Audencia of Quinto is an ideal site for studying the position of women in 17th century Spanish America in her book "Women 's Lives in Colonial Quinto" she begins by telling the stories of two women named Maria, and Ventura. Both women lived in Quinto, but only one got the justice she deserved. Both women live separately from their husbands because of abuse. The only difference was that Maria never got the help she needed from the authorities, but Ventura 's husband was killed by police officers that were trying Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 16. What Are The Barriers Of Gender Equality Today, the world is not doing as well as people would like: gender equality has yet to be achieved, climate change is putting millions at risk, two–hundred million people are unemployed, and people are more stressed than ever. Trying to solve these world challenges, people are working more and more hours, yet little progress is being made. The solution is rather simple: work less. Women around the world are under–represented in the workforce, making up less than 20% of CEO positions, and, in America, fewer than 20% of Congressional positions are filled by women. Reasons for this lack of representation may be due to prejudice, but it is important to recognize that women are viewed as the primary child caregiver in most families. For this reason, many women take off work for several months after childbirth and are often thwarted from higher positions because they take leave. If both males and females had shorter work weeks, then both genders would be able to devote more time to child care, allowing women to continue to work sooner and progress in their fields. In addition, studies have shown that men who take paternity leave are more devoted to their families and are 50% more likely to help their wives with domestic labor, such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry. Thus, the shorter work week would lead to both equal representation in the work place and at home, subsequently, breaking the barriers of gender inequality. Shorter work weeks will not only benefit parents, but they Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Research Proposal : Gender Equality Research Proposal: Gender Equality in America For my research project, I would like to show the evolution of gender equality that has occurred in American society in the workplace. The disparity of status and privileges between men and women has existed since the end of the World War II. Although America has made progress concerning the acceptance of social issues such as same sex relationship and marriage, people are still unwilling to acknowledge that gender inequality is still rampant among our society. Gender equality hasn't been achieved yet, particularly in corporate America that has an insignificant number of women in the upper ranks; fewer women occupy a post of chief executive officer, chief financial officer, or any other leading positions. For my research question I will be asking: "How is America making progress on gender equity?" Fundamentally, I believe that women are still misrepresented, and are still facing many challenges in the workplace, especially in the business world. The gender stereotypes play a considerable role in the way the society sees women as leaders. However, it will be judicious to consider the small but noticeable changes that have been made over the past years concerning gender equality in the American workplace. The research on the evolution of gender equality is related to my success, because as a women business major, it is my responsibility to be aware of the issues women face in the business world, dominated by men. • 18. Gender Equity Essay Gender Equity Are male students and female student's receiving the same opportunities when it comes to Math and Science in the schools? I don't believe they are. This is why gender equity is a major problem facing our schools today. Many girls are having very negative attitudes towards Math and Science. Through doing research on this topic I found out why. In the article How Research Helps Address Gender Equity, a very shocking and eye opening thing was written. I learned that children as young as kindergarten already have formed set stereotypes about Science and Math. The boys in the class wanted to and believed that they could be Scientist while the girls in the class did not. They perceived being a...show more content... He also seemed to talk down to the girls. My self–esteem in Math wasn't good going into this course and when I came out of it, it only became worse. I was terrified of Math. I don't think my Math teacher or other teachers intentionally call on boys and encourage them more but it ends up happening anyway. Another problem that girls are faced with is they aren't getting the same opportunities and encouragement that boys receive in lab experiments. All of these things play a big factor in girls having low self–esteem when it comes to Math and Science. When doing my research on gender equity, I found a lot of good steps taken to improve the equality of boys and girls in school. One of the first things that needs to be done is a teacher assessment. The article Fair and Square, says that the teacher should have a friend or colleague come into the class to do the assessment. The observer would write a 'b' if the teacher asked a boy the question and a 'g' if the teacher asked the girl the question. The observer would also "make a brief notation of the type of reaction you make to each child, whether it's praise, criticism, remediation, or acceptance"(Sadker , Sadker , Stulberg, 2001 ). I think this assessment is a good idea. However, I would think if the teacher knew that he/she was being assessed they would be more conscience of calling on both boys and girls the same Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 19. The Importance Of Gender Equality Ever since the beginning of time, women have been fighting endlessly to be treated equally and fairly, whether it's in their personal life, their business careers, or their social encounters. From the day in which women are born, they are raised and treated differently compared to men. Girls are expected to be sensitive and sweet, meanwhile boys are usually more tough, and expected to mature a bit faster. Girls are protected more in comparison to boys and as they grow, the way society treats each gender stands out more. Women are limited to certain professions because they are not men, and in situations where they can actually work the same jobs, they are paid much less. Throughout time, women all over the world continue to be sexualized and judged based on their personal opinions. While many nations have slowly begun to embrace women's equal rights, Islam continues to oppress women by limiting their self–expression, using their religious misconceptions to abuse and control them as a whole, and constantly maintaining old cultural traditions that prevent freedom and equality for women. As formerly stated, women's rights across the world are slowly increasing while they remain the same or even worse in some parts of the world. In America, women can vote, be a part of Congress, choose whatever career they want to study, live wherever they please, marry whoever they love, and much more. In Europe, gender equality is one of the core values in their initial founding treaties, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net
