14. Genesis 22:1-12 ESV

After these things God tested Abraham andsaid tohim,
"Abraham!" And he said, "Here am I."
2
He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you
love, and go to the land ofMoriah, andoffer him there as a
burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell
you."
3
So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled hisdonkey,
and took two of his young men with him, and his son
Isaac. And he cut the wood for the burnt offering and
arose and went to the place of which God had told him.

On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the
place from afar.

Then Abraham said tohis young men, "Stay here with the
donkey; I and the boy will go over there and worship and
come again to you."

And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and
laidit on Isaac hisson. And he took in hishand the fire
and the knife. So they went bothof them together.

And Isaac said tohisfather Abraham, "My father!" And he
said, "Here am I, my son." He said, "Behold, the fire and the
wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?"

Abraham said, "Godwillprovidefor himself the
lamb for a burnt offering,my son." So they went
bothof them together.

When they came to the place of whichGodhad
told him,Abraham built the altar there andlaid
the wood inorder and boundIsaac his son and
laidhim on the altar, ontop of the wood.

ThenAbraham reached out his hand andtook the
knife to slaughter his son.

But the angel ofthe LORD called to himfrom
heaven and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" Andhe
said, "Here am I.

He said, "Do not lay your hand onthe boyor do
anything to him,for now I knowthat youfear
God,seeingyou have not withheldyourson, your
onlyson, from me."

hearts on getting rich have wandered away from
the Christian faith and have caused themselves a
lot of grief.

42. When Godtested Abraham, faith led himto offer
his son Isaac. Abraham, the onewhoreceived the
promises from God,was willingto offerhis only
son as a sacrifice.
Godhad said to him,"ThroughIsaac your
descendants will carry onyourname."
Abraham believedthat GodcouldbringIsaac back
from the dead. Abraham didreceive Isaac back
from the dead ina figurative sense.
