Adverbs modify verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs by providing information about manner, place, time, frequency or degree. They ask questions like how, where, when, how often, and to what extent. Many adverbs end in -ly, though some exceptions exist. Adverbs are used to modify verbs by indicating place, time, manner or extent, and modify adjectives and other adverbs by indicating extent. Nouns can also sometimes function as adverbs.
