Building a Place and a Community with Digital Communications and Social Networks

1. Problem
The Silent Majority of Americans are not
engaged with government and policies that af-
fect them. The 100 year old political feedback
loop needs modernizing. Today’s citizens are
not only increasingly busier, but their voices
are drowned out by loud noise from so many
social media venues and passionate activist
groups. The result, is the disconnect between
voting citizens and their elected officials who
cannot hear above the noise.
Solution
POLCO brings unbiased policies to validated voters.
POLCO is a unique platform that allows people to
vote, give their opinions, and comment on policies
by meeting them in the online spaces they choose
websites, blogs, emails, mobile applications, and
embedded or independent widgets. POLCO is an
agile, social tool that enables rich data collection to
ensure a wide spectrum of voices are heard and sen-
timent recorded. When users input their concerns,
elected officials can review their validated constit-
uents’ votes and comments to make informed and
thoughtful decisions about upcoming policies.

About the team
The core POLCO team is a tight knit group of veterans dedicated
to improving the political process. Before starting POLCO they
were economists, policy analysts/advisors, consultants, and soft-
ware engineers for some of the world’s best companies. Collec-
tively the team has worked at Amazon, Google, overseas military
bases and embassies, The White House, in the oil fields, in banks,
hospitals, and other startups, in economics, tech, marketing, pro-
gram management, business development, and public policy ad-
vising.
ON SEED SUMO
It’s a friendly ‘roll up your sleeves’
kind of place, but just like other things
Texan, don’t underestimate the slow
stroll and accent, it gets you where
you need to go; with experienced,
helpful mentors, excited energized
investors, willing interns, fantastic
aesthetics, and an even better gym.
There is a genuine feeling of comrad-
ery.
A set up fee and subscription
service (hosting) for municipal-
ities, collecting rich data for re-
porting, and advertising in this
two sided model. There is scal-
ability to state, federal, and inter-
national. There’s also a textbook
complement fee, for use in aca-
demics.
After recognizing the need for
unbiased municipal involvement,
POLCO is currently gaining trac-
tion through city and municipal
governments. Since our found-
ing, we have signed an LOI (Let-
ter of Intent) with a university,
with a State Senator, and a con-
tract with the city of Bryan, Tex-
as. POLCO is also a finalist for
the Mountain View, California,
Mobile App Challenge.
MARKET OPPORTUNITY
Thousands of municipalities across
the nation are becoming engaged
through POLCO. Our platform in-
cludes advertisement for interested
PACs, national polling, media, and po-
litical hopefuls. POLCO’s educational
tool offers schools and students a
means to engage with the political
process to get involved, too! POLCO
has significant scalability opportuni-
ties expanding from our current mu-
nicipal focus to state and federal lev-
els, and further to international levels.
