Career Summary
With a background in farming and tertiary qualifications in business, I moved into financial positions in auditing
and systems before returning to the agricultural sector in 2007 in operations and field management roles. These
roles have involved the planning, implementation and monitoring of conservation programs with leadership of up
to 20 staff and the management of contractors and a wide range of stakeholders. This has required good
relationship and stakeholder management skills and the ability to complete programs within timeframes and
budgets adhering to strict government requirements and legislation.
Particular achievements have included the following:
• Database upgrade project;
• Working in the management team of the Finance Department – Regional Council;
• Financial and operational Auditor;
• Management of large-scale operations.
I have strong financial and commercial skills with a Bachelor of Business Studies and membership of the NZ
Institute of Accountants. I also have a sound understanding of regional conservation and am an Authorised
Personnel under the Biosecurity Act.

Key Achievements
• Rewrote tender documentation
• Developed and implemented a new reconciliation system for the current contracts. This involved writing
some formulas for scenario tests within the data.

OSPRI New Zealand 2010 – 2016
Field Supervisor
Responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring/auditing of pest control programmes which includes
program preparation, tender processes, contractor and operations management and analysis. This involves
working with stakeholders including Regional Councils, Department of Conservation, landowners, Public Health
unit, Iwi and community groups.
Key Achievements
• Managed the aerial operations which have eradicated Bovine Tuberculosis and Vector across 33,000
hectares in the Rangitoto Range. This involved organising two contractor organisations, consultation with
stakeholders and colleagues and organisational planning.
• Worked on the Hauhungaroa Range across 80,000 hectares in difficult terrain with three organisations
plus the Department of Conservation, Public Health, stakeholders and District Councils in consultation.
Planning also includes implementing a safety and security plan with local police and security companies to
ensure a safe operation in undertaken.
• Gained approval for access from landowners in sensitive areas covering 7,500 hectares by one on one
consultation and facilitating solutions. This has been an important process of Bovine Tuberculosis
eradication while retaining relationships with the landowners.
• Implemented and tested processes and methodologies for eradication of Bovine Tuberculosis which has
required good management of the contractors, managing objectives and problem solving. This achieved
the above large scale eradications with positive feedback and confidence within the region.
• Led the Health& Safety initiatives at the coalface which has led to good compliance and which mitigated
potential prosecution on one particular incident.
• Currently an Authorised Personnel under the Biosecurity Act.
• End to end management of projects of varying scale and lenght.

working closely with the Public Health Unit and the Department of Conservation. This also involved fielding queries
from interested parties.
Key Achievements
• Led the organisation to the achievement of goals with contractors and staff through a process of change
management which resulted in new outcomes based on survey results rather than measured results.
• Built relationships with Department of Conservation and the Public Health Unit to effect changes in
processes related to toxins and signage. These changes are still in operation.
• Being part of a team managing large scale aerial operations.
Waste Pro Solutions Oct 2006 – Nov 2007
Contract Role
Contracted to set up a new chart of accounts for a small company and improve the reporting of financial
transactions. Project included identification of software, installation, assigning asset numbers and classes, values
and depreciation rates and implement.
Key Achievements
• Identified the need for a fixed asset register, which was successfully developed and implemented.
• Implemented new General Ledger structure and reporting process, including daily reporting for
management using spreadsheets which provided more user friendly and understandable reporting.
• Reviewed and updated the banking and payroll systems, correcting errors found within the payroll
regarding tax and other statutory requirements and by upgrading the company banking procedures to
include more secure Internet banking.
MCK Group June 2004 – Oct 2006
Internal Auditor
Responsible for completing both operational and financial audits within each of the hotels in the group. This was a
requirement of a listed company. Reporting included investigations, implications and recommendations if any
improvements were identified. The work involved extensive travel and working autonomously for more than two
years. I reported to executive management (New Zealand), internal audit management (London), Investors
(Singapore) and KPMG (New Zealand).

Waikato Regional Council (Environment Waikato) 1997 - 2004
Systems Accountant
Responsibility for maintenance of the Oracle database, reconciliations of items and maintaining integrity of sub
ledgers with the general ledger. This included responsibility for financial management and mentoring to the
Biosecurity group and oversight of transactions between the Regional Council and the Animal Health Board for
Bovine Tuberculosis vector control, debtors, creditor reconciliations and retention calculations and financial
reporting to the Group Manager.

• Part of the IT team that undertook the system upgrades, using a project based approach. This included
training staff on the use of the financial system and answered queries to various groups on their financial
position.
• Wrote a number of user and procedure manuals for Oracle Project Accounting and other modules as such
as timesheets, debtors, creditors and month end reporting from the General Ledger. I was responsible for
training staff in the use of modules within the Oracle database.
• Used Brio Query reporting software to interrogate the financial system resolving financial queries and for
reporting cost data on the Council Intranet to all managers.

On returning to New Zealand I enrolled at Waikato Polytechnic to undertake a business degree. I completed
Bachelor of Business Studies (majoring in Accounting) with eight additional Management papers.

Prior to 1990 involved in dry stock farming in the Te Kuiti area, including providing stock for the live export market.
