1. PROBLEM STATEMENT
Disruptive: Upload any learning materials and knowledge into her head as in the Matrix: as the brain
structure and functions get better understood, it should be possible to have a machine connected to
the brain and uploading the sensual and logical information needed for learning and strengthen the
synapses to form different associations
Brief explanation of the drawing
People receive information via their 5 senses. Most of this information is noticed subconsciously and
dismissed as it is too much and not useful at any particular moment.
Some information is admitted into the sand clock like Short Term Memory where it is kept and
assessed quickly (usually a few seconds to a few minutes depending on the type of information). If
the brain can associate the new info to something in the Long-Term Memory, it gets down and is
linked to existing knowledge. If the info (concept, example etc) is new, it depends how it is served. If
there is a match to some known concepts, it can form new learning by triangulating in LTM. If it is
completely new, it may be forgotten very quickly (not understood effectively) unless it is exposed to
the brain repetitively until it forces a memory.
Therefore, quicker and more effective learning can be achieved if two things are done:
1. Any new information is presented in more than one way (and preferably using more than
one sense as an input), so that the most suitable match between the new info and the
existing knowledge structure is found. Imagine rotating the sand clock so that more sand
grains fall into the head.
2. New information is structured in a way that its concept and examples are presented in
relation to other similar concepts and examples so that a ready association can be presented
to the brain and it may relate it to existing knowledge. Imagine coupling the sand grains in
pairs so they can fall together.
3. The above needs repetition every now and then to strengthen the formed synapses (the
neural connections that are responsible for the new knowledge)
The link contains a starting prototype with some concepts and examples. There is more than one
definition for the same concept and concepts are tagged so that links are formed across different
disciplines.
