This PowerPoint is a
sample of the book, 6th
Grade Math
Which exponential expression is
equal to 7 x 7 x 7 x 7?
A. 77
B. 7777
C. 47
D. 74
Represent repeated multiplication in exponential
form
How to solve
Exponents are shown to the upper right and
are a way of showing how many times a
number is multiplied by itself.
The problem shows 7 being multiplied by itself
4 times.
That means
7 x 7 x 7 x 7 = 74
Choice D is correct, 74
Evaluate expressions having exponents where
the power is an exponent of one, two, or three
Simplify the expression shown.
32 + 42
A. 25
B. 7
C. 14
D. 12
How to solve
The numbers on each side of the plus sign have an
exponent. The exponent is how many times a number is
multiplied by itself.
Remember the orders of operation require that multiplication
be done before the addition.
32 = 9
42 = 16
9 + 16 = 25
The correct choice is A
