Survey ApproachSurvey Approach
Break up SBL’s employee population into four equally-sized groups (A-D).
Each employee group should be representative of SBL’s entire employee population using
appropriate demographics (those that you would typically use).
Survey Employee Group A in the first quarter. (“First quarter” is not necessarily the first
calendar quarter or the first fiscal quarter. Think of it as the first survey quarter.)
Survey Employee Group B in the second quarter; Employee Group C in the third quarter; and
Employee Group D in the fourth quarter.
With each Employee Group (A-D) made up of a representative SBL population, one quarter’s
results will be valid for the entire employee population.
Advantages of this approach
Minimizes employees’ perception of being over-surveyed.
Quarterly results provide apples-to-apples comparisons.
Provides more frequent feedback than a once-a-year survey, enabling more timely
adjustments to approaches and processes. (No end-of-year waiting or surprises.)
