1.0 Introduction
Volunteerism irrespective of it form has shown to have ripple effects and accumulate benefit even
for generations unborn. Volunteerism take many forms: donations of talents, donation of time,
donation of money, or undertaking a community activity freely for the benefit of humanity.
The United Council for Youth Empowerment, Ghana with support of key stakeholders will like to
hold a public forum to observe the 2019 International Volunteers’ Day (IVD) in Ghana. The
Council is hopeful that, a blend of speeches, sharing of experiences, and awards on the IVD will
inspire, motivate and aid volunteers to stay committed in doing more.
The council seeks to leverage on its international relations, local image, and links with state and
non-state institutions to make the event a memorable one which will lead to the emergence of
about 500 new individuals to join the volunteers’ movement in Ghana.
2.0 Key Event Activities
The two main activities to be undertaken during the 2019 IVD are;
Speeches on volunteerism, Questions and Response, and
Award of outstanding /emerging volunteers in Ghana
3.0 Targeted Participants
The event is expected to draw 500 participants from the;
National Youth Authority,
Tema Metropolitan Assembly,
Media,
private companies,
religious groups,
youth groups,
Civil Society Organizations,
Traditional authorities,
UCYE members
4.0 Objective
The broad objective of the event is to revive communal work and volunteerism spirit in Ghana.
5.0 Theme
The proposed theme for the 2019 IVD event is “Passion to Volunteer: A Way to Transform
Cities”

6.0 Date
The proposed date for the event is Thursday, December 5, 2019
7.0 Venue
The proposed venue is TDC club house at Tema. Scouting for alternative venue is still ongoing
and the proposed venue is subject to change if the need arise.
8.0 Time
If started as planned, the event (speech and awards) should not last more than 2.5 hours. The event
is proposed to start at 10:00am and close at 12:00pm.

10.0 Public awareness campaign
An aggressive strategy will be adopted by the executives to create public awareness on the events.
This will include personal contact, use of radio, sharing of flyers on whatsapp, facebook,
Instagram, handing over flyers in person, and distribution of letters regarding the event.
Dedication of UCYE all executives will be encouraged to make the event a success. The output of
the event will inform our establishment of new offices in the other regions of the country.
11.0 Funding
The main sources of funding for the project include;
1. Soliciting for Public or Companies Support or sponsorship,
2. Self-financing (UCYE Executives and UCYE president office), or
3. Mixture of option one and two above
All participants will attend the programme for free, and speakers will be admonished to deliver
speeches for free.

12.0 Security
The Ghana Police Service will be contacted through the Tema Regional Commander for police
presence during the event. The venue will also be selected taking into consideration safety
provisions and a place that meet standards and can accommodate the expected number of
participants.
13.0 Refreshments
Participants will be given water, drink and snack to stay through the programme.
14.0 Projected challenges
The following unforeseen challenges are anticipated;
